In summary

Memorial Park Golf Course is highly praised for its immaculate maintenance and challenging layout, particularly following its Tom Doak renovation, making it a standout public course in Houston. The course is known for its professional-level conditions and friendly staff, contributing to a positive golfing experience. However, some visitors find the non-resident pricing steep and note occasional issues with course conditions and staff demeanor.

This was my first time golfing at Memorial Golf Course, and it definitely lives up to its reputation as one of Houston’s most popular courses. Booking a tee time can be challenging due to high demand. You have options to book either two weeks out or 3 days in advance, but availability is very limited. I booked on a Sunday for a Thursday round and was only able to secure a single tee time at 3:10 PM—everything else was already fully booked. I played with my father-in-law, who is an avid golfer visiting from the Philippines. As a Houston resident within the 610 Loop, I qualified for the residen…

Huge Beautiful Course with a great layout. I haven’t gotten the chance to play it yet, only attended The Texas Children’s Houston Open hosted by PGA. The park is always clean and the Tournament is fun. There are lots of things to purchase as in Hats, Flags, Pull Overs, Golf Shirts etc. All on the top brands have merchandise like Titleist, Callaway, Taylor Made, More. You can also buy gear that has the events logo on the item. Lots of food and drinks, you can either go the kid friendly or the grown route. Wouldn’t advise mixing the two. Lots of fun, great atmosphere and an all in all great time…

Great short game area, would be nice to have a bunker but understand why it’s closed. Driving range is generally good, yet very busy, mats are a bit tired and wish they didn’t have flight restricted balls.

What a beautiful track! Immaculate conditions. Price $120 (+ a hidden 20 dollar online booking fee) so really $140 for a municipal seems a little steep, but it is a PGA stop so considering that I guess its a fair price. Felt the pro shop staff was a little less than friendly. Par 3s are WOW inducing, really pretty holes. Fairways are mostly generous and the danger is concentrated at the greens, which rolled immaculately. 16 & 17 pack a punch with their lurking water hazards running besides the fairways. 18 seems like a easy finish to the goal line but the wind was no joke, made a long par 4 fe…

Immaculately maintained track. While it’s not the most scenic of PGA Tour stops, it has enough bite to it so that it’s a challenge. Course was in great shape when I played in August. I also got all kinds of weather so be prepared. It went from 95 and muggy on the front to perfect - cloudy w a nice breeze - for a few holes on the back and then darkening clouds with 2-3 club winds and finally sideways rain by the end! All in all I felt like the out of town rate was well worth it to play a track that’s on the tour.

Didn’t play a round, just practiced and used the driving range, but wow, what an amazing course, especially for a public one. Super well-maintained, great facilities, and totally worth visiting. Will definitely come back to play a full round soon!

Played a morning tee time with a customer and a random nice couple playing from the red/senior tees. Course was okay at the resident price (around 55$). Out of resident price at around 130$ is a bit steep considering what other courses have for that price range. First time playing on it was nice and the courses were in decent shape considering the drought that has been going on for months. The 17th hole as other said is still out of service but we knew that before coming. I have been to the range on multiple times and also find it satisfactory. I do appreciate marshals on courses to keep the…

Beautiful course immaculately groomed for Houston Open. We were there to watch one of our sons play in Children’s Hospital event. We were very impressed and as parents ranked it only below the Bethpage Black event. We saw a couple instances of rowdiness (always!) and security handled them very efficiently. Everyone we met who was working was terrific with us. My wife got light-headed on the course and staff brought her to me in the clubhouse. Food in our dining room was very good.

I’m taking the opposite side of the argument from some of the recent reviews. Yes the course is a little beat up right now, but everyone has a short memory. December-April Memorial was the purest conditioned course in Texas. If you didn’t get to experience it, you missed out. The greens were mint this morning. Move your ball if you’re on a bare spot and everything its plenty playable

This track is like the epitome of good not great. We played it a few weeks before the Houston Open so it was in spectacular condition (ongoing grandstand construction was a fun addition to the round). This grounds crew is clearly top notch. Grass is not supposed to look that good on February 8th. That being said, I found the course pretty uninspiring. Not a ton of memorable holes. Parking situation is dumb. Pro shop selection is sparse. But overall we had a very nice time. Attached picture is my brother absolutely nuking an old persimmon driver that was found in my grandfather’s garage.

Memorial Park Golf Course is easily one of the best public courses you can play. The Tom Doak renovation, with guidance from Brooks Koepka, created a layout that’s challenging, beautiful, and absolutely worthy of hosting the Houston Open. It offers PGA-level quality while still being accessible to everyday golfers — a true standout in the heart of Houston.
