In summary

Middletown Country Club is appreciated for its challenging layout and friendly staff, with several visitors noting improvements in course conditions over time. However, there are frequent concerns about the maintenance of tee boxes and greens, as well as the pricing, which some feel is high given the current state of the course. Additionally, the pace of play and absence of a driving range are mentioned as areas needing attention.

Middletown is a really awesome public course. The pricing is pretty reasonable. I went recently and the course was pretty fine, the greens specifically were slightly damaged, some greens have cart tracks in them and stuff - but it really didn't change much, and they are in the process of growing grass there. Just reporting the condition. I still had a blast and I will be going back. - there are tons of insects, for whatever reason. Bring spray.

Absolutely disgraceful. I only wish there was a minus 10 option!! 84$ for a course where there were actual tire tracks on more than one green. I've been playing for over 30 years, I would rank this place as top 3 worst conditions I've ever played on. And pace of play was horrible also. The owners should either put some money in repairing this place or sell it. I couldn't stress strongly enough to seek any other option over playing this disaster. To charge the same as courses like makefield and 5 ponds is borderline insane. Stay away at all costs, you've been warned.

The ownership and management here is amazing, the people are great. the shape of the course has been getting better over the years but not perfect but hey at least they are trying, two weeks ago i was watching them replace tee boxes and work on the greens. difficult course for beginners but all in all a good course

(Extensive golf course review). Yes, there are downsides. The course is older. The trees are too tall. It’s not long enough. There are a few bare spots. BUT, the design, the staff, the trickiness of the course, and (especially) the pace of play will keep you coming back. There is a real opportunity here to play 18 holes on a full par 70 course (actually 69) in less than 3 hours (sometimes less than 2:30!). A quickie, but with all the clubs used and different holes, you will not leave wanting more golf, just wanting to be better at golf. Don’t be surprised to be treated like a human being at Mi…

This course has gotten better compared from 2-3 years ago. Layout of each hole is the best feature of this course, some holes are open for your driver shots. Challenging as well. Very friendly workers. Thanks and we will be back!

As a resident of Middletown Township, I have played this course several times, although not in the 5 years at least. That said, I did expect better playing conditions. Tee boxes were all either bare, or loaded with crabgrass, meaning previously bare. Most greens and fairways were in decent shape. I appears new cart paths are in the works as there were many freshly formed dirt paths by a skid steer with a bucket. For what they charge, better overall conditions is the expectation. I've played the course in past, in better shape. Hopefully, these things will be rectified before I consider bookin…

Its a long, decent course. A little expensive since the the tee boxes and greens could use some work, but all in all, its good

Hitting off of mats for half of the holes and the other 9 tee boxes were all dirt and weeds. Terrible shape and crazy to charge $80. More of a $45 course.

Pricier than it should be. Better beer in the bar would have gotten us to stay after.

This was one of the worst kept courses I have ever played on. The tee boxes were in absolutely horrible shape and one of the holes greens looked like the grass in my backyard, with that the hole was so large a bowling ball could have fit in it. With this, they didn’t have anyone out enforcing pace of play on the course and it took 4hrs and 45 minutes to only play 16 holes. The pace of play was so bad on 14, 15, and 16 that my foursome had to stop due to tightening up. A group ahead of us had a group of 6 playing together. Really wish I would have saved the $55 that it took to play here, will a…

Would give this 3.5 stars if allowed, but went with 4 because I think a lot of other reviewers have been a bit harsh recently. I agree with others on the price: $70 feels steep for what you get here, but price is all about supply and demand, so I can't fault the course for charging what they do if they're filling the tee sheet every week. I think $55-$60 would be much more reasonable of a price. As for the conditions, it was not nearly as bad as some others made it sound in other reviews. I'll start with the bad: the tee boxes are terrible. Nothing but dirt and crab grass on most of them. The…

Absolute junk course…just got done 18 holes of pure trash. T box’s where the worse i’ve even seen, dirt bike tracks on greens and horribly unkept fairways. Should be a $40 course not worth the money whatsoever!
