In summary

Oyster Reef Golf Course is frequently praised for its beautiful and well-maintained layout, friendly and accommodating staff, and enjoyable amenities such as the Lagerhead Tavern and complimentary range balls. Many visitors appreciate the scenic views and challenging yet playable design. However, some guests have encountered issues with course maintenance, particularly during aeration periods, and have noted occasional slow pace of play.

The course is in great shape for this time of year. A few tee boxes are pretty beat up but green are outstanding. Fairways had some green to them, which is nice for the area. Got a deal thru group golfer which made it even better. They provide range balls, staff is very friendly and a very walkable course. Pace of play was good - 60 degrees out on a Saturday; 1pm tee time; played as a single; had to wait on the back nine but finished in 3:50hrs. Course is challenging but doesn't kill you. Some tough slopes on the greens but i liked it. Eat at Lager head Tavern afterwards - very good food.

We recently played this course as two groups of three golfers. Prior to our arrival, the course contacted us and informed us that the greens had been aerated. While this was disappointing, we appreciated the advance notice and decided to keep our tee times. What we were not told, however, was that the fairways had also been punched. Between the aerated greens and punched fairways, the overall playing conditions were far below what we would expect for a course charging approximately $100 per player. Had we been fully informed about the extent of the maintenance work, we likely would have chose…

Played last Friday (10/25) and was quite pleased with everything about this place. Course is in great shape, greens were fast and true. We didn’t play the 150+ green fees so our deal was exceptional. Number 9 green is a mess and the staff is well aware. Pro shop team was great as well. The views are nice, especially #6 (par 3). Go enjoy this course!

Played three golf courses while on vacation at HHI. I have to say that O.R. was a pleasant surprise with respect to conditions, playability, etc. Greens were consistent and very nice although a bit slower than what I am used to. A very nice, albeit small, practice range. I hope to play it one more time before heading home. Worth trying.

This is the most I have ever paid for a round of golf in my life and the course was destroyed. Half of the greens were dead and or under repair. For $170 this should have been the most pristine course instead we got dead fairways and a fake green they put in the fairway. Save your money and play dolphin head. The goofy pro shop guy tried to not give us our money back and said the course was in good shape. Check out the pics.

Oyster Reef Golf Club will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Last Friday, I proposed to my girlfriend, Rachel, on the iconic 6th hole, and the entire experience was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make the day special. The course itself is phenomenal—immaculately maintained fairways, stunning scenery, and a layout that is both challenging and enjoyable. But what truly set the experience apart was the incredible hospitality. I called ahead a couple of weeks before to ask if we could take some photos on the green after the proposal, a…

Beautiful course, highly rated and appropriately so. Very exciting...lots of doglegs throughout, and be prepared for the bunkers around most greens. You will love this course, a real classic perfect for all levels. Oh don't forget to hit the clubhouse, Lagerhead Tavern is excellent. Book your game with Kevin he is efficiently a pleasure as are the rest of the staff. Enjoy!

We had such an amazing time here. Gorgeous course and super fun to play. The staff are really dedicated and helpful. The food was a highlight of our trip, it was delicious and the perfect boost mid-round. Extra shoutout for cleaning our clubs before we left, overall great experience.

Front nine is mostly average difficulty. Back nine is harder. Numerous water holes. Most greens are elevated. Tee boxes and greens in very good condition. Most fairways in very good shape. We paid $100 for.a 2:30 tee time.

Played 18 at this course and loved it! The course was in great shape, and the pro shop staff were very nice. We came across a lot of wildlife too! Definitely a great course to try if you are in the Hilton Head area.
