In summary

RiverTowne Country Club is appreciated for its challenging layout and friendly staff, with some visitors noting the course's fast greens and well-maintained conditions. However, there are significant concerns about the overall course condition, particularly the fairways and greens, which some describe as poorly maintained and not meeting expectations for the price. While some golfers had positive experiences, others recommend exploring alternative courses in the area due to inconsistent maintenance.

I only played first 9 but loved the course. Greens were fast but true. Nice people too. Played with my buddy Steve and a gentleman named Dean. Super guy.

Played 7/26/2025. Course was in great shape! Challenging and fun layout. The fairways were lush and the greens were fast. Heat index was 110 and we saw the beverage cart every third hole. From the pro shop to the bar to the beverage cart…ithe staff was amazing! Highly recommend this course if you are in the Charleston area. As for the one star reviews, unseasonably cold winters can negatively impact warm weather grass. Rivertowne has recovered from this past winter. Golf cart had a note that course was going to have scheduled aerification week of July 28. The agronomy team is taking great ca…

It’s a shame what has happened to this place. Layout has all the potential in the world and it’s been 2+ years of poor conditions. How their membership puts up with this for the price is beyond me. I’ve continually given it a shot over the last few years but at this point it will never be back in good shape. Somethings gotta give

My wife and I played this course on April 30th. Starting with the fact that I play 135 to 150 rounds a year and last year alone I played in 8 different states, I feel qualified to give a prepared and knowledgeable opinion. This course had the worst conditions of any course I've played in many years, maybe ever. Let's start with the driving range where the balls looked like they had been dug up, like potatoes ( a filthy Pinnacle is an ugly sight) ...on the range there was NO grass, NONE ! As much as I don't like mats , they would have been a welcome sight. My skeletal system would have thanked…

I played Sunday, April 13th and the course is in terrible condition. I have been playing this course since 2007, and its, by far, in the worse condition I have seen. The fairways are bare and really tight and the greens are patched and bumpy. Lots of thinned wedges over the green due tight, muddy, lies with no grass. Greens are pitiful. They are charging a reduced rate now and I see why. Munnie is in better shape.

My group loved this course. This was the favorite of the 3 we played on our golf trip the week of 5/6/24. Course conditions were very good from tee to green. Great layout that was challenging but allowed you to score if you were hitting it well. Pace of play was great as we had a foursome that finished in 3 hours, 40 minutes. We will definitely return.

The course was in horrible condition, not worth 113$ big mistake. I told the guy no need clean the dust off my clubs. Greens were very patchy. Big disappointment. No one bother to mention terrible conditions don't waste your money.

I've played quite a few Arnold Palmer courses and this course is by far the toughest one. I played the Ocean Course last year and I feel like Rivertowne is harder. It plays long and the fairway grass doesn't provide much roll since it's spongy so that makes it play even longer. Many of the holes require placement off the tee and some force longer shots into the greens. Conditions of the course are good and the greens are always in solid shape. The staff seemed nice and helpful.

This USED to be my favorite course in Charleston - to say it has gone downhill is an understatement- now I played today, August 6 I knew that they had been working on the greens. The greens were actually not in bad shape but the fairways, it was like playing in a hayfield. Not only that but several holes had so much water on them you couldn’t walk through it much less hit a ball out of it. Then the cart girl missed hitting me head on by about 2 feet cause she was too busy trolling TikTok. When the course is that unplayable you shouldn’t open. Tell people it’s gonna be a few days let it dry out…

Played this course for my birthday with a friend on a Friday morning. I was hesitant to play here based on recent reviews truth be told. I had a great time plain and simple. Greens rolled true. Fairways could use a little attention although still solid. Starter and staff were very friendly. Never got rushed and felt I got my moneys worth for the day. This course is in my top five for this area and price after one round.

Poorly maintained. Plays like a below average muni, shouldn’t have country club in the name. Immediately backed up a full hole by the second hole, then washed out with rain. If it rains for more than 10 minutes, the greens are toast. Feel that the course should be a bit more forthcoming with rain check policy if it’s credit and not refund.
