In summary

Rockingham Country Club receives praise for its friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, and well-maintained greens, which many find to be the highlight of the course. The venue is also appreciated for its affordability and suitability for beginners. However, some visitors express dissatisfaction with the condition of the fairways and tee boxes, citing them as hard and dry, and note issues with mosquitoes and slow pace of play. Additionally, some guests feel the pricing does not align with the course quality, especially for junior rates and weekend play.

We reserved tee-time on Saturday September 20, 2025 @ 8:40am for two players. Started right on time. My friend and I had a great experience at the course and with Ronnie a.k.a "Birdie" from the checking in process to the good breakfast sandwiches and to just talking to Ronnie in the parking lot afterwards. Courses were decent. Bar was good. The starter guy (forgot his name was also cool as well.) We'll defiantly return the next time we visit Portsmouth! Thank you!

I'm planning a group golf outing for a Saturday in June. We have never golfed here before, but after reading the owner's response to Ian's review, 8 months ago, we will Definitely be booking a tee time at Rockingham CC. Love the honesty and the lesson for beginner golfers on time management, and golf etiquette. Simply helping them understand why tee-times, and having your equipment ready to go is necessary for starter, and the golfers teeing-off after them. It was well said and an excellent delivery for sure. LOL See you guys soon, Tommy

Best golf course for the money around. Not super challenging but it is a true par 35 9 hole course. I’ve read reviews saying the tees fairways aren’t flawless and the ground is hard. This can be true, especially in mid August when it’s been hot but you’re never hitting out of dirt. It’s $25-30, not $60. And yes, It can get buggy in the evenings, but you’re outside in the summer, not the courses fault. The highlight of the course is the greens. Almost always perfect. Good roll, no scars. And again, for $25 is a great deal. The only thing keeping the score from being 5 stars is that junior rates…

The worst maintained course I have ever played. I normally don't write reviews but I felt compelled due to the price...$45 for 9 holes is absolute highway robbery for this course (I would maybe pay $15 with a cart). Even the middle of the fairway you were hitting off of sand or dirt. Not a single good lie whether you were on the green, fairway, tee box, or "rough."The only good thing about the experience was how kind the pro shop attendent and starter were, I appreciated the run down on the course before we played but felt like I need to warn people to not pay $45 for this course, I wish I cou…

Pretty bad. Been playing for 67 years and never encountered the course conditions I experienced. However, the greens are good as well as the bar and restaurant. $71 for 9 holes for a 75 and 13 year old. Come on! Save your money and play at a cheaper rate at a well groomed Exeter GC.

terrible golf course. horrible experience. the mosquitos were awful. we tried to suck it up and play through but couldn’t. they were so bad that we left after 3 holes. management was rude and wouldn’t offer a refund or even a credit to the proshop would’ve been been a nice gesture. 1/10 experience. will not be going back and suggest anyone else who thinks about going there to reconsider and go elsewhere where.

Where do I start… place has more mosquitos than a hike in the back country woods. The fairways and rough… can’t tell them apart. My lawn is a nicer “fairway” than the ones here. It’s absolute robbery to charge $43 to ride here on weekends. Sagamore is $9 more and worth it 10000x over. I will never play here again. The starter is a real cool guy, but everything else about the place absolutely stinks. This course should either be $15-$20 …. Or a free town course. Spend your money at sagamore, or granite fields in Kingston, both provide tremendously more value for your dollar. Never mind the fact…

Lovely people. Lots of black flies. Green are slow but in good shape. Fairways are not in best shape- dusty and hard as a rock. Low greens fees!

We had a great experience at the beer garden. Pizza is fantastic. Rocky was our waitress and she was so kind, helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Starter was incredibly rude, as we are new players and were one minute late to our tee time. Definitely steers me away from this place and if you are new I would suggest somewhere else!!
