In summary

Sonoma Ranch Golf Course is praised for its challenging layout, scenic views, and well-maintained greens, which many find enjoyable and engaging. The course features interesting elevation changes and a golfer-friendly environment, complemented by a good restaurant and friendly staff. However, some visitors express dissatisfaction with the condition of the fairways, bunkers, and overall maintenance, as well as the cart path-only policy and perceived high pricing.

Great layout, hit or miss conditions. Great course with some really interesting and challenging holes. Definitely need to use your course management skills to get around here. It’s wide enough to not be terribly penalizing, but narrow enough that you need to pay attention. Wonderful the greens are in great condition. Lots of insulation pockets and elevation change very fun and difficult greens. It was cartpath only it looks like they’re trying to grow out the course for maintenance. I would recommend playing lift clean and place and have fun and enjoy the course. I did!!

The Course for a 1st timer is tough a lot of blind shots, but its a great layout. The Greens were great Conditions except 1 a par 3 but was playable, but the fairways,The tee boxes and sandtraps are in very very poor shape. I hate to give 2 stars to such a nice place and very nice staff.

I thought the course was in better shape than people are saying. The greens were perfect and most fairways and tee boxes were average for a public course. Sure a few times I moved my ball from a dead spot but that shouldn’t bother you that much. TOUGH course to play for the first time with blind shots and desert everywhere. Great views and greats carts with gps. Cart path only is tough but I assume that will change at some point.

The course is coming along nicely. Fairways have largely filled in since the overseeding efforts and the greens are in great shape. Bunkers still need work, but overall things are steadily improving.

Showed up with a tee time I had scheduled at 4:10 and was turned away by an impolite young woman in the pro shop. Said the tee time was only available in error and the course would be full. Hardly any cars in the parking lot, plenty of golf carts ready to go and almost nobody on the course. She claimed they were having a league and a children’s event. However, another staff member informed me that I easily could have been let out before those events and that those events won’t even come close to filling up the empty course. Unfortunately, the young lady got flustered and turned me away for no…

Another typical resort neighborhood type of course, but I do like Sonoma better than Horizon (in El Paso), in the way the course layout and the route is a lot more intuitive, you can basically just follow the cart path to find the next hole. Meanwhile, the course design of each hole is also a lot better than Horizon, as it's merging into the neighborhood while not too close, in the way you feel like shooting golf balls in front of someone else front yard.

We went for lunch. It was fairly busy. Acknowledged and seated promptly. Service was great. The ham & cheese melt had a bit too thick bread for my companion but otherwise good. I had the chicken tenders and fries. They were hot and good. You are rushed here to turn a table- which is a treat.

Golf views were amazing! Greens were in great shape, other parts of the course were a little rough like the tee boxes but overall great place to play. Great restaurant with great selection and nice bar!

Cart path only, why? On very 1st hole got in bunker, absolutely no sand, and I mean none! Hard packed dirt. From that point on, I took note of all the bunkers, no sand in any of them! Hey, this is a desert around here, plenty of sand. Now, back to cart path only, someone tell me why in the world it’s cart path only? This round took our 4some 5 hrs and 15 minutes to play. If you didn’t hit your ball close to cart path, I’m not exaggerating, you could easily walk at least 100 yards, from the cart (hoping you chose the right club) to your ball, hit it, then walk back another 100 yards to the cart…

So I drove 51mins to play the course and I was not disappointed. I'm not sure why houses on a course would bother people, if you are concerned about the houses, then you need to choose another sport, it's not as if the houses are in the middle of the fairways. From the first tee box until the 18th green the course was playing just fine, I could only find 2 fairways that were not in great shape and they were not the entire fairways. The greens were fast and undulating, for the most part they were fairly large. It seemed like every green was 2 tiered. A negative about the flag placement is that…

The views on the course are amazing! It was golfer friendly track and the holes were fun to play. It had a nice cart path the whole way through too.

Very disappointed in our experience. Sonoma ranch course was Terrible! Over grown, doesn’t seem like a greens keeper has been on the property in a month. Sprinklers going on and off non stop. Greens were ok. Had to pay full price. Definitely not worth it
