In summary

Spooky Brook Golf Course is frequently praised for its well-maintained greens, fairways, and overall course conditions, making it an inviting option for both beginners and more advanced players. The layout is described as wide open and easy to navigate, contributing to a generally good pace of play. However, some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with the staff's customer service, citing instances of rigid enforcement of rules and a lack of empathy in certain situations.

Great course, great cart, bad staff. We played through 12 and had to come back due to a storm, asked for a rain check but the staff denied any kind of compensation. Then our group of 4 went to the clubhouse and got kicked out. We attempted to let staff know our ride was 5 minutes away and wanted to stay out of the storm but they told us they were closing up and we had to go. Disappointed.

I don't golf, but my husband wanted a driving range. Spooky Brook was the nearest one still open in November. It was a lovely day, the links looked inviting, and there were a couple dozen cars in the parking lot. Fees seemed reasonable, and the club house was spare but comfortable. I can't say anything about the golf course(s?).

The course is very nice, but the staff was not accommodating to beginner players. Pace of play was kept fine but the staff complained we were out too long, breaking rules, didn’t have enough clubs, misused cart, and many other things. Along with this the staff member came at us so aggressively yelling and screaming at kids who weren’t knowingly doing anything wrong. Overall the course is nice but the staff needs to lighten up and change the rules if they don’t want kids playing on their course.

Overall solid round. Course was well maintained and speed of play was exceptional. Highly recommended course.

The staff at this course demonstrated a disappointing lack of understanding when it comes to basic customer experience. My wife and I were turned away because she was wearing jeans. When we asked for any flexibility, the only response was, “It’s on the website.” To be clear: I’m not disputing the rule exists—I’m questioning the complete absence of empathy or common-sense discretion in enforcing it. I work in the city, took an hour-long train, and then drove 40 minutes just to make our tee time. A polite reminder or warning would’ve gone a long way. I’ve played this course many times before a…

It’s a good course moderate challenge. Extremely well kept greens & well managed fairways. I played after several days of rain , very good drainage.

This course is well kept all around. It is ideal for beginners and anyone who cares about having a good time and playing with not much to worry about. Fairways and wide, easy to follow and with rather soft soil. The roughs are not too bad, they keep the grass at a reasonable height which makes the course friendly and the pace of play a bit faster. It is very likely that you will find your ball, even after a really bad shot. Why not a 5 start? Some greens need TLC and more amicable people in the clubhouse are needed. I recommend you give it a shot!

11-30-2024 Beautiful place!! Nice well maintained Tee boxes, fairways and greens. Fairways have wide and clean views. Beautiful atmosphere!! The club is warm welcomed and kindly environment, thank you Mr. Dave.

Spooky Brook, like the other public Somerset courses, is very nice, well maintained, and is a very consistent course regardless of when I go throughout the year. Especially good if you don’t want to lose balls as the course is open, and also has pretty flat greens. Great for getting your lowest score, too. Course itself is a 4.6 out of 5. Giving a 3 because of the one starter who works there. By far the most rude, “I have an ounce of authority so I will treat everyone like I’m the chief of police” type. Last time I played I was five mins late and my group was on the fairway on hole 1, complet…

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. First, before I get into my grievance, the fact that there wasn't a drop of drinking water on the entire course on a 98-degree day is borderline criminal, and has lawsuit written all over it if you ask me. Now, my personal issue, the staff at Spook Brook make this one of the worst golf experiences in the entire state. There is one starter in particular who has no business interacting with the public. My friend and I had a tee time yesterday afternoon and decided to bring our wives to have a nice couple's day together; neither of our wives play golf, they were just goi…

Fun, 1960s parkland style golf course. I know it’s fashionable to want to play today’s “faux classic “ courses with their “look at me” holes. Me, I prefer my courses to be funk free where I can bang a driver 14 times and groups aren’t looking for balls on every hole. Nice greens, decent overall conditions and nice pace of play make this a worthwhile play.

It's a wide open public course that is fun to play. Great for a beginner, easy to walk and a great confidence builder for more advanced golfers. Played it on 7/25, was in great shape. Greens were a little beat up bit but not horrible.
