In summary

StillWaters Golf and Country Club receives praise for its scenic and challenging layout, friendly staff, and recent improvements under new management, including well-maintained fairways and greens. The course offers good value, especially with its reasonable rates and amenities like GPS-equipped carts and a golf simulator. However, some visitors have experienced issues with course maintenance, particularly the condition of the greens and bunkers, and have noted occasional lapses in customer service and disruptions during play.

My boyfriend and I recently moved to the area and we have been playing golf at Stillwater’s at least 4 times a week. We absolutely love the course! It is so beautiful and the fairways and greens are well maintained. The owner is clearly making a lot of much needed improvements to the bunkers. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the marshal is a sweetheart. We both recently got memberships because the junior rates are extremely reasonable. Highly recommend you play this course because their nonmember rates are incredibly low.

This course is under new management now and it's already day and night difference from just a couple months ago. The front 9 greens have been patched and are growing in nicely. They have all brand new high end carts, and are making tons of improvements to the bunkers. They even lowered the price to justify the condition as they make improvements. They're even clearing another 9 holes that they planning to reopen in as soon as 3 months. This is a great track at this price and the conditions are improving weekly. You can tell they're putting a lot of money and energy into making these improve…

EDIT: I’m coming back here a year later to change my review because the management changed and the course/greens are in MUCH better condition. The price was also lowered to a more reasonable rate. I don't want to leave a negative review because I used to love this course, but charging $61 to play on these greens is ridiculous. At least mention it to people before they go out there. I just want people to be aware of the conditions because I wasn't. Lower your price or fix the greens.

Fun, challenging course. The pro shop carries top notch apparel. The golf simulator is a great addition for cold or rainy days. Highly recommend!

I’ll give one star because the clubhouse was nice besides the part being remodeled otherwise I’d give a zero. The gentleman that checked me and my little brother in (he’s 19) was fairly rude and when I was just clarifying that we wanted a cart as well his response was “obviously”. The greens were absolutely atrocious. You couldn’t tell where the fairway ended and where the green side began. The bunkers were either non existent or just full of gravel. To top It all off we had to wait several minutes or more to make our approach shot on 18 due to there being a football game being watched outsi…

I should’ve listened to the previous reviews but instead decided to give it a try. That was a mistake. The course has gotten away from them. Greens are gone, bunkers are just pits, debris that just hasn’t been picked up, a sinkhole in the middle of a fairways. This is beyond just bad weather. It’s a shame as I’ve played this course for the last few years each Father’s Day at the lake and always looked forward. Will drive to Auburn next time. It’s a scam to charge full price.

The course has significant upgrades underway. There should be a disclaimer at the pro shop and a discount for all players. In an attempt to slow the greens down they over watered making them muddy and sloshy. We should have went to the city course.

Quality has sadly fallen off in the last few years. All 18 greens were 30% or more dirt (pictured). Front desk gave me some pushback as a solo trying to play at 11:40 on a Monday, and said "we don't really want solos playing before noon because we can't afford to lose those tee times", but I had at least 3 tee times on either side of me and everything from 1-5 was wide open. Hope they can get the greens figured out, I enjoyed playing throughout my time at auburn and was disappointed when I drove up from Florida for a round and was left with this.

I play at Stillwater’s annually on a business trip. It has improved so much over the last 4 years. Today, it was excellent from tee to green. The greens are very receptive, even on longer shots and had good speed. Be sure to dine at Copper’s Grill while you’re there too!

This course is in absolute disrepair. The greens are dead, on four different holes. This course used to be a pleasure to play, they had pride in it at one time. but now it’s an embarrassment to have friends to come play Stillwaters golf course. For the cost of play here you would expect better!

Maintenance is a struggle here - so you absolutely must hit fairways and greens (true for golf in general, especially so here). It is a great, short layout though that tests lots of shot shapes, trajectories and clubs. Undulations on the greens is a tad cartoonish and goofy-golf. You've been warned. Grab the Hot Deal on Golf Now and it is a bargain.

The hospitality was superb upon check in. The course is in great shape from tee to green. We thoroughly enjoyed or round. GPS equipped carts; very hilly course and quite challenging. 2 couples met in the middle for a Labor Day weekend getaway. We'll be going back to Stllwaters GC.
