In summary

Stumpy Lake Golf Course is appreciated for its unique and challenging layout, offering a scenic and tranquil setting away from the city's hustle. However, many visitors express dissatisfaction with the course's maintenance, citing poor conditions of the greens and fairways, as well as issues with drainage and overcrowded tee times leading to a slow pace of play. Some also mention concerns about the course's pricing relative to its condition and the attitude of certain staff members.

I've played this course for over 25 years and it's sad what it has become. Stumpy Lake was never the "pristine" golf course, but it was affordable and in good shape in the early 2000's. Today it just seems completely unkept. A Robert Trent Jones design shouldn't be treated as such. If Stumpy Lake's course conditions looked like Riverfront, I'd easily pay $90+ to play here because the architecture of this course is beautiful, but it really needs an overhaul. Some greens were actually decent, but overall 2.5/5 for me. DRAINAGE IS HORRIBLE! SWAMPY LAKE! NOT EVEN A REAL COURSE AT THIS POINT. I wo…

Stumpy Lake Golf Course has a unique and challenging layout, but it isn’t for the reasons one would think. Most golf courses have difficult pin positions, tricky hazard placement or maybe even bunker protected greens. Stumpy lake takes a different approach to making your golf experience memorable. The reasons stumpy may be a difficult course is that they strive to give you the most unpleasant experience. The tee boxes were so hard, by hole four, I wasn’t golfing anymore; I was mining for gold. Have fun putting as the greens were so dry, I think I saw a tumbleweed roll by. My ball hopped, skipp…

I’ll start out with the fact that I really enjoy the course. It’s a fun layout with some great holes. But my issue is with the cost to play vs the condition of the course. Played today, Sunday morning and paid $49. These pictures are from the fairwaiys and greens. And I didn’t have to go searching for bad spots just to strengthen my review. It is in miserable shape. I’d expect this for a $15 municipal course. But maybe I’m dramatic or have to high of expectations. You be the judge

Entire course is in horrible shape, don’t waste your money. Starter was senile and rude. Watched him yell at a group of young women learning to golf. They wanted to share a bag of clubs and he was on a power trip. Had to sit in the overbooked cart line and watch cringing. Waited around more than I swung a club due to the tee sheet, management are absolute doorknobs. Play literally anywhere else in VB, this place is in disgusting shape and egregiously overpriced.

I was trying to get in a round before an evening flight. Booked a last minute tee time at 11:34am on a Sunday and had to leave at 4:30pm after playing 15 holes. Slowest pace of play I've ever experienced. The tee times need to be spaced out more if there are that many beginners on the course. The course was in rough condition which is a shame because the layout is fun. All the employees I interacted with were very nice. Could be an awesome course if there were some organizational changes and the greens were given a little love.

I play Stumpy Lake GC quite often because it’s very close to my house and I can say that it is definitely a great course…especially for the money. The layout of the course is fairly challenging and it’s always in good condition. I’ll definitely be back!

I’m not a pro by any means, and this is my first review. I hate to admit it but I’ve played plenty of other courses that were good and didn’t write reviews. Anyway, I was really disappointed with this course. Tee times were grouped 3 minutes apart from each other, we got to the first hole 5 minutes early and there was a line of at least 4 groups ahead of us. Pace of play was horrible.. but what can you expect with Tee times stacked on top of each other. We had a three man group and a random that joined us but one of our guys had to leave after 9 so when he paid he grabbed a cart. Well immedia…

Somewhat crowded but flowed decently. Terrible tee boxes, needed a hammer to get tees in the ground, fairways in rough shape with lots of bare spots. Greens were in decent shape. $10 more than other public courses in better shape.

Nice enough layout but the tee boxes and greens are cooked. Overpriced, totally not worth $50+, more like a $30-$35 course. And slow.

I walked 18 at stumpy lake today. Older course (I think) behind a local nature park. You feel away from the hustle and bustle. Course was in great shape, looks great but it is late in the season. Forgiving layout that is simple and playable for any golfer. Experienced golfers may feel a little "bored". Scenic and quaint. Optimal course to ruin a nice walk at.

Charging $26 to ride 9 holes and not saying to the customers or posting a sign that all of the greens look like these pictures... it's awful. You mind as well just pick up your ball and add two strokes once you get on the green because every putt is just a prayer. It's doing bad business not letting the golfer know the greens are soo messed up. After the comment below from the staff at stumpy lake I would like to state those are not arified greens those are 3/4 full of sand or dead grass and there is no way those are in good shape in 3 weeks time. This course really needs to be more upfront an…

If i could give it 0 stars i would. I wouldn't play here again if it was free to play. Staff is extremely rude, they stack tee times 3 min apart so you wait 15 min between each tee box. They say the pictures in the reviews are “winter conditions” the course is in awful shape all year. Save your money and play one of the nice courses nearby for the same price. Ive golfed all over the country and this is tied for 2nd worst course I have ever played.
