What People Say

In summary

Sundale Country Club generally receives praise for its well-maintained course, friendly staff, and the quality of food and service at the Petroleum Club restaurant. Visitors appreciate the course layout and the improvements made by new management. However, some criticisms include maintenance issues around the course's landscaping and occasional concerns about golf carts encroaching on nearby private property.

Second review of this place. I'm not a member but a Kern City resident. All I can say is there is absolutely no pride in their appearance. The sidewalks and shrubbery are totally weed-infested. It's very embarrassing to live so close to what is normally appealing but it is far from it. Shame on Sundale. Take some tips from Stockdale C.C.and the others.

The course is in average conditions. The greens are in good conditions. The tee boxes need water and the fairways need some attention. You can play the ball down around the greens but I found myself bumping a lot today from the middle of the fairway.

This is now the Petroleum Club, but put aside your old concept of that restaurant. Sure they have a dress code, but it is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, with new location, menu, and amenities. They're still working on the outdoor venue (it's 105° today, so...no. ) But the dining room is sleek, air-conditioned, and overlooks the driving range (also empty at 105°). The menu is full of yummy reasonably-priced items. Service was unhurried and pleasant, and the food was worth every penny. Our table ordered the club sandwich, pecan strawberry chicken salad, salmon salad, and the special of the day grilled mush…

I'm not a member but a Kern City resident. I must say the general landscape maintenance around the entire golf course is sadly very unattractive and uninviting. We walk our dogs every morning and are constantly reminded of the lack of care it gets. There are weeds everywhere. When they do decide to kill some weeds they just leave the dead ones where they were. Weeds and tall grass around poles everywhere. I know it's not an upscale course like Seven Oaks or Stockdale but, for crying out loud, take some pride in its appearance. It's sad and embarrassing. Pictures are along Pebble Beach Drive an…

Course was in great shape. Greens were fast and rolled true. Traps were in good shape and loose as they should be, not like other courses in town. Carts are brand new and nice with GPS and course maps.

Absolutely beautiful! The staff was very kind as well as compassionate. I was at the Sundale Country Club for a memorial service for a very good friend of mine. Although I had to head back to Texas, I was temperature to rent some clubs and possibly get nine holes of golf in. The course looked beautiful. If we lived closer, I'd petition for membership.

It's not a bad course, but not one I recommend to those looking for a track to enjoy. Keep looking.

Great steak, beautiful dinning room. My wife had chicken with mushrooms, very good too. The large cheese platter appetizer was especially good.

Has everything I like… a long course with different types of obstacles including water and sand traps. The course is within a housing development but there’s lots of room between the fairways and backyards to the homes. The course has trees but the fairways are wide so my group didn’t lose golf balls. The sand was fresh in the sand traps, and there’s a driving range. The clubhouse and atmosphere of the club are welcoming and friendly.

This is the best club I’ve ever been too! The food is out of this world! 🌎 the lamb chops are made so well and are juicy! The butter cake is so good! With strawberries and ice cream, couldn’t be better! But besides food, the hospitality is unbelievable! They are such good hosts and are such nice people! This is a place you will enjoy and have fun in 🤩

This was my first time playing golf here at Sundale. It's a much older golf course but the groundskeeper has done a good job with the upkeep, and the greens were great. Some water and a couple of traps but overall its a fairly easy course to play. It sits in the middle of a senior community, 65 and older, so it's quiet. The houses on the course are really small and definitely from an older generation. The clubhouse is much more modern and probably has been redone. It was a good day for golf and I had a great time. Friendly staff and very helpful.
