In summary

Sydney R Marovitz Golf Course is appreciated for its beautiful location with views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan, offering a unique urban golfing experience. Many visitors commend the course for being well-maintained and reasonably priced, with friendly and accommodating staff. However, some golfers have experienced issues with slow pace of play and occasional negative interactions with course staff, which can detract from the overall experience.

After my flight got canceled, I took an uber over to the Waveland course, and the staff got me all set up. Decent set of rental clubs, and a sleeve of balls turned my flight cancellation into a great time! The staff were super helpful, and very accommodating to a stranded traveler trying to make the best of the situation. It was such a cool course surrounded by views of the city and lake. I will definitely make it a point to come back for another round next time I’m in Chicago.

Nice course and got paired with a local at the last minute. Pace of play was fine for a Sunday in May and the greens were decent. Would give a 5 star is greens had a little extra care. All in all, it is a nice course and I would play again. Had no issues with the pro shop. Great views of the city and the lake.

We had an excellent experience here visiting from Idaho. Beautiful course, nice staff, reasonably priced for the location, and we got paired up with a really nice couple from Illinois. My one complaint was no driving range and the putting area was closed but everything else was great. Will be back again!

Marovitz is a good 9 hole track with great views but a major pace of play issue. Nearly 3 hours for a weeknight spring round is asinine. Players would not group up and there was not much etiquette on the course, and no rangers to enforce this. For spring golf the conditions and price weren't terrible but I can't imagine how slammed this place must get during the peak season. I even heard some tales of 4 hour rounds at this 9 hole track. Great view and good for the entry golfer, but I'd go pay for 18 in the suburbs to play for the amount of time.

All my experiences took place Sunday AM Memorial Day weekend, between 6:15-9am. 6:39am tee time started right on time. Played early morning. Walked 9, 2.25hrs, there were only 2 of us, but the 4 some kept a good pace out in front of us. Greens were money, rolled probably 9-10, great undulations and a lot bigger than I expected, very nice condition for a Muni in my opinion, (I fixed a few ball marks but it wasn’t played out in my opinion), and I have played a lot of the cheapest from coast to coast. Nice mature trees. I think it is a steal to walk 9 holes of golf in Chicago for $30! And parking…

No idea what other reviewers are talking about - played a round with three beginners (two of them women) and everyone in the pro shop and the starter were extremely friendly and courteous. The course was beautiful and excellently maintained, and we never felt rushed. Awesome course that everyone in Chicago should play.

Guy at the front desk denied my purchase of a tee time claiming the course was closed while tee times were available for the following 45 minutes online. Can’t say anything bad about the course I’m sure it’s lovely but as far as the front door staff goes it’s not great. Blatant disrespect to me as a customer and as a golfer tough looks. Just wish I could have caught his name.

Pros: Price for walking is reasonable. The carts were a bit expensive. Kids play for free with paid adult which is great. Course layout and greens were good and well maintained. Cons: There was a martial who was very overbearing which is why I only gave 4 stars. There were walkers in front of us, (we were in carts) and no one behind us. After hole 2 he warned us of pace of play and that he might ask us to pick up our ball if we were too slow. On hole 4 he made us move up to the red tees. We were well within the 15 minute-a-hole pace and the group in front was still on the green when he told us…

The location of this course is excellent — right by the lake on one side and with a great view of downtown on the other. That’s the main reason we chose to play here. We booked the last tee time of the day at 7:24 PM, thinking it would give us a relaxed round with no one behind us. The website stated that the last tee time should be two hours before sunset, but in reality, it was already getting dark just 40 minutes into our game. Because of that, we only managed to play about half the course. To make things more frustrating, as soon as we started playing, workers turned on sprinklers to wat…

This is not the actual golf course obviously but it's minutes from there but Maps doesn't have the location to just sit at the lake between Waveland and Irving Park

Good course for beginners and a good pace on a Sunday but had to take off stars due to the starter. I believe her name was Jan, she was incredibly rude (specifically to female golfers as I observed). Rushed us on the first hole and wouldn’t let me play it even though we started ahead of schedule. She was super demeaning even though we told her it was our first time at this course. Not sure if I’ll return because of that.

Course is a really neat course in the city. Was cool to golf with skyscrapers all around on one side and Lake Michigan on the other. It's a city ran course so conditions are as good as you'd expect for a city ran course.
