Stay : May 15 to May 17, 2026 Stayed for 2 nights at Taboo Muskoka with friends and family (6 adults & 2 kids). The property itself has beautiful lake views and a great atmosphere, and a few staff members truly stood out. A big shoutout to Juliana at the Boathouse Restaurant — Saturday lunch was excellent. The food was amazing, served on time, and the hospitality was above and beyond. Jason at check-in was also extremely helpful and made the arrival experience smooth and welcoming. Appreciation as well to Montana, the restaurant manager, who was proactive, attentive, and genuinely tried to r…

Boathouse Restaurant at Taboo Muskoka Resort is superb! We had lunch there twice this past summer, and we absolutely loved it. The view of the lake while enjoying lunch was calming and relaxing - we look forward to coming back this Fall. The Arugula & Pear salad with blood orange vinaigrette is light and delicious, and the Eggplant Grilled Cheese sandwich is worth the drive to Muskoka! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere second to none.

Location is right on the water and the property is beautiful with several docks, a beach and gazebos on the water to relax on. There are also several pools to enjoy. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights and didn't do any golfing, but spent some time in the pool and used the facilities to go canoeing. Overall we had a nice time. The place was a bit of a ghost town and everything shut down by 8pm which was a bit of a bummer, but that may be due to the time of year. The lack of a hot tub and pool access past 8pm was a downer for us. The boathouse restaura…

Amazing Muskoka getwaway spot! We are there with a larger group. From the food at the boathouse, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, to the activities, canooing, beach volley, it was just superb and a lot of fun for everyone. Great lakeview from the hotel room and very friendly service.

Not what we expected for a premium golf course. Bag drop area was at the bottom of the hill, needing a 4 person cart to transport to the Pro Shop. That's fine except we had to unload our own bags from our car, and carried out own bags to the transport cart, and holding on to the clubs ourselves. There were staff but they were not helping. Also there is no clubhouse building but make shift food truck for food, which was like pub food at best. Tee boxes signage was hit and miss, as was the condition of the tee boxes. Not worth the money. Not going back.

Avoid Taboo at all costs!! My friends and I booked golf with Taboo for a Bachelor party recently. The groomsman organizing the trip was told by an employee named Brandon that the round would cost $240 per guy ($2,400 total), which seemed really expensive at the time (about 2 weeks prior to the actual round of golf) but was close to the public pricing we saw online. We decided to proceed with the booking as it was one of the bachelors favourite courses. Fast forward to 3 days before our round of golf, we noticed that the course had dropped prices online to $149 per person. We called up Brandon…

We tried to book a room for a week however they had a large group that booked the entire hotel for a wedding. We were disappointed when we had to leave and had a great time during our 5 day 4 night stay. Lots to do and the food and servers were great at the Boat House restaurant. Had a lake view room on the first floor which was very comfortable, modern and most important, clean. Large modern bathroom with a generous size shower and full size tub. All the staff were very friendly and helpful with things we needed. We have motorcycles which some guests do not like to hear, however the front des…

This was, to put it mildly, a very mediocre experience. Nothing about the hotel evokes the “Taboo” name or even a hint of a luxury getaway. The amenities are minimal — tiny shampoo bottles, and when our family of four (all with long hair) requested more, we were met with disapproving looks. Internet in the rooms was unreliable, with weak or inconsistent signal. There were no bathrobes, no sauna, no hot tub — no effort whatsoever to make the property inviting for the fall or winter season. The restaurant was overcrowded, with half the tables uncomfortably close to a very loud live singer duri…

Everything was great except for the service at their restaurant called "Boathouse". The junior serving staff in the morning (Saturday) need more training dealing with customers. Particularly the taller red haired waitress. Very headstrong with a lot of attitude.

Among the many beautiful places to choose from; the destination we chose, was Taboo Muskoka Resort; to celebrate a very special occasion. I had MUCH to share for/about this LOVELY RESORT & TEAM MEMBERS; yet had to condense my original detailed review; due to the allotted space. Regardless, Following is why we chose Taboo Muskoka: We sought a peaceful/serene/quiet experience, with a casual elegance, water amenities & a desire for a comfortable & clean suite with a good view. As well, we hoped for a genuine, welcoming & caring staff… What we found & received; was BEYOND PEACEFUL/BEYOND OUR EX…

Very nice property ! I did know what to expect in Muskoka, but this had all what we were looking for. My highlight is the activity team, they are really the best, they can do everything. We enjoyed the hike, the canoe, the crafts, the sports everything. Also warm pools in this weather was a real bonus. Its very quiet place though, which I did prefer.
