In summary

The Wilderness at Lake Jackson is frequently praised for its beautiful course layout, friendly and helpful staff, and well-maintained facilities, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors. Many appreciate the challenging yet enjoyable design and the natural setting that enhances the golfing experience. However, some golfers have noted issues with the condition of the greens and bunkers, as well as occasional slow pace of play, which can detract from the overall experience. Despite these concerns, many find the course to be a worthwhile destination, especially given its competitive pricing.

It's been at least 8 years since I played this course. It's about hour and a half from me. It is a nice course but it was really nice back then. Nice simple clubhouse with snack bar, golf attire, etc .... Some greens, fairways and bunkers could use some work. I don't really care about the tee boxes (tee it up) but they were good. . I did see maintenance working on one bunker and I heard that they are going to be working on others. Myyyy biggest problem is the price ($75 or so for non resident - weekdays).

The last 4 rounds have been horrible! Slow play is killing the enjoyment of this establishment, the pro shop doesnt care if it goes on and the marshals will not address the issue. Pace of play sucks! The greens and tee boxes are in horrible condition, this used to be a very nice course and lately it has gone to hell with a mentality that the staff does not care! I will be cancelling my players club immediately and seek membership else where and this is utterly sad coming from a resident of Lake Jackson!!!!!!!

Booked a tee time on a Saturday, we were paired with another couple and everyone was a good sport. Check in was quick, getting beverages and snacks were quick, and the carts were clean. The tee boxes were in good condition, the fairways were in good condition as well, the greens on the other hand needs some help.

Played Easter weekend, it was busy but didn’t have to wait to long for clear greens. Fairways and greens were in decent shape one of the best course played in Texas! Everyone was friendly for first time at this course. Will definitely be back again

I’ve been a member since it opened. Played Freeport today because of a tournament at the Wilderness. Our greenskeeper should be ashamed. The Greens and Tee Boxes are significantly better than what we play at The Wilderness. Please; go get tutored on how to maintain our greens and tee boxes.

Took my boyfriend, and friend, to Wilderness Golf Course for his birthday. We all live in NW Houston, 1 hour drive to course. It was a GREAT TIME! Loved the beautiful surroundings. Would totally recommend! We definitely plan to go again.i

If you’re like me, you saw the 4.7 Google rating for this course and thought well this must be a Hidden gem. I made the trek out to Lake Jackson from Houston, and while I’m happy I did come out to check out the course, it’s definitely not a 4.7 google rating. It’s not better than memorial wildcat or tour 18 or any of the other solid public courses in Houston. It’s got a fun design and it’s maintained fairly well. The holes have some cool layouts and you really do feel like you’re in the wilderness at some point. However, the greens need a significant amount of work. They aren’t that fast, ther…

We volunteered for an event at the Wilderness Golf course. Even though I Don’t play golf, everyone there was helpful. They had the carts lined up and had several workers assisting with not only the participants but also the volunteers. It is a beautiful course and we saw wildlife which added to our day

We absolutely enjoy this beautiful course definitely a gem in Lake Jackson. They have been working hard from the damage caused by the hurricane last year and are doing a great job getting the course back to pristine condition and are almost there. The level and style of the course and what they charge to play is more than fair. And for the people giving 1 star because of condition obviously don’t know what this course went through and has been improving every month, they take pride in this course and there’s no such thing as a perfect course. I played at TPC in Scottsdale and guess what there…

Pro Staff is awesome. Amazing people at the pro counter! Girls in cantina and carts are great. Greens are horrible! Absolutely no reason at end of April greens should be a 6 or 7 on speed. You pay full prices and get to the green and they absolutely ruin a good day of golf. Should be ashamed. Nobody - Nobody has green this slow anywhere in Texas!!!

My coworker and I were in the area for a work trip from Augusta, Ga and decided to drop by and try this course out. This was a well designed, challenging yet golfer friendly course. The course was beautiful and overall in great shape. Water was present in locations that provided challenging approaches, but there wasn’t enough water throughout the course such that you would lose balls constantly from errant shots. At the time we were golfing it was cart path only so it was pointless having a cart, but the layout of this course was perfect for walking. Just make sure to check on cart rules befo…
