What People Say

In summary

Westland Municipal Golf Club, recently renamed Mack Mayfield Golf Course, is appreciated for its friendly staff, well-maintained greens, and relaxed atmosphere, making it a suitable choice for beginners and families. The course offers a quick play with only par 3s and 4s, and the clubhouse and carts receive positive remarks. However, some visitors express concerns about the course's condition, particularly the fairways and tee boxes, and feel the pricing for 9 holes is not competitive compared to other local courses.

Ik it’s early in the season but they bumped prices up and the whole course is just goose feces, sticks and uncut grass. The green has not been touched and was the same length as the fairway. Usually one of our favorite courses. So sad to see how down hill it is. Was also told over the phone that it was cart path only on only a few holes then upon arrival was told it was the whole thing so we have to walk in the goose feces the whole time. Please clean up or lower the prices. Everywhere else around is the same price or cheaper for 18 holes instead of 9, and has already very clean and nice cours…

Very well maintained. Short course plays quickly, only par 3's and 4's, no 5's. Good place to warm up at the beginning of the season, good price for what it is (9-hole public course). Somewhat recently refreshed clubhouse is nice, carts are not sluggish like some courses. Bunkers are pristine. A few water hazards but a generally clear course as long as the geese aren't out.

This is one of my favorite go-to courses to practice on. It gives you the opportunity to work on basically every part of your game in an unassuming environment. You will see players from every skill level playing here. Its very relaxed, so it seems like it may be easy, but it will surprisingly challenge you. Staff are very friendly.

Greens were in good condition. A few craters in the fairways. Decent, challenging course.

Excellent short course that is great for kids. A pig lives off number 4 that adds to the charm. The greens are in the best shape this year than I have ever seen them. Staff is great as well!

Great course if you don't play a lot!! Set up a time between 11 and 2. There's not a lot of people clustered and you can relax, and enjoy the surroundings!! They hv pull carts too if you want to walk. Great job to the staff. 5 Stars

I’m new to the sport of golfing and the etiquette and practice it takes to yield any results worthwhile. I was looking for a course close to home where I could practice and not feel judged or discouraged when I totally miss my swing. Not only is the course well kept and the community very friendly, but the staff here are exceptional and go above and beyond to make your experience as perfect as it can be. Joe in particular made my wife and sons first outing with me go as smoothly as it could and because of how patient and kind he was my son is now getting his own set of clubs to come shoot with…

Greens are in pretty good condition, the tee boxes on the other hand, are not. Most are beat to death (which happens when we can't seed, not the worst thing), the worst part is that most of the boxes are rounded, almost like a hilltop, for whatever reason. Paid $24 for 9 holes at 630, but you can do Warren Valley 18 for 25$ anytime after 5pm. I believe last year , when it was still Westland Municipal, it was only 15$ for 9. The course definitely is not worth 24$ for 9. .Sorry Staff is friendly for the most part. Carts are great. They have light snacks and beer / drinks available to purchase.
