In summary

Bayonet at Puppy Creek is frequently praised for its well-maintained course, challenging layout with doglegs and elevation changes, and friendly staff. The course offers a good value for its condition and amenities, including a pro shop and practice areas. However, some visitors have experienced issues with staff rudeness and discrepancies in pricing, as well as occasional soggy greens and slow pace of play. Despite these concerns, many golfers appreciate the unique and enjoyable experience the course provides.

This is a tricky course for beginners. It has water you have to carry and bunkers in strategic locations. The holes are long from the blues. However the course has wide fairways so you can generally keep your ball in play and out of the rough. Off the fairways, trees make up the majority of your problems. I got stuck once and lost two strokes bouncing off trees. 😂. The course is nicely maintained and "marshalled". It looks like the cart paths are being repaved. The club house has a nicely stocked and handsome pro shop. I'm from NY and I found the pricing more than fair. You can play 9 or 18.…

While traveling through the area a few years ago, I was looking for a course to play. I must admit that I was attracted to the Bayonet at Puppy Creek due to the unusual name! And I'm glad I decided to play there. Very nice course and it provided me with a nice challenge. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely give it another go.

Fantastic Facility. Played this course traveling north on I95 and was pleasantly surprised with the entire round. Warm and friendly staff @ check in Course layout is a lot of fun. Tons of dog-leg holes, blind tee shots and elevation changes along with water on several holes. Course conditions exceeded expectations for this price range. Greens were beautiful and the natural landscape with the compacted sand along with the tall pines really made this place feel special. Pace of play was great and the carts seemed relatively new. Honestly I wish I lived closer, I would play this course often…

What an awesome course. The best word to describe it is "manicured." We are visiting the area, and if there is a course we would sign up for membership, it would be this one!

I drove 80 Miles to play this course that I found on Golf Now and it was worth it. Great course that is taken care of. They have great greens and nice fairways. The course is in Raedford NC a very small town outside of Fayetteville.

Our group from Myrtle Beach played 8/5 for a change of scenery. As expected, some holes were CPO. Course was in great shape tee to green. Fairways were excellent and the greens rolled true. Tough to hold the greens with any club above a PW for our group, but can't wait to play them again next year. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, even the guys working on the course. Great time.

It is the best course in the area. I am a happy member. I just wish people would fix their ball marks. It only takes a second. My best choice for this whole area hands down or I wouldn’t have joined.

Found the round to be quite enjoyable. Course was a little slow, but the group in front of us let us play through and then it really sped up. Grass was perfect!

Today was a rough day, I had a hook that could knock out Tyson. But on to the review. As usual, I will break down the different course aspects. Amenities 5/5 - Driving range, sizable pitching chipping green with bunker, large separate putting green. Tee Boxes 4/5 - Well kept, not bare like some other courses on their par 3s. Fairways 4/5 - While I personally didn't find the fairway often, the times I did weren't bad. It's not plush like the 5 star courses, and the drainage could be better in some areas. Greens 4/5 - These are year old greens and you can tell. There are no deformations to n…

We drove up from Southport this past Sunday 9/8 (yes we drove a shade over 2 hours) and were wonderfully surprised by this course. Coastal NC is very flat and this course has elevation and character. Reminded us of the courses back in MA. Doglegs, blind tee shots and undulating large greens. Conditions are very good save for a couple spotty greens on the back 9, but nothing that put a damper on our day. Left my rangefinder on the cart. Spoke to Sean in the clubhouse the following morning and they mailed it back to me the following day. Course staff is very friendly. Highly recommend Bayonet!

I went as a single to play 9 holes. I arrived at 4:10 and asked to pay for nine holes and a cart. The person at the counter told me I could not play with a cart because the courses policy is to have all carts back by 6:30. He said there was a tournament on the course but I saw no golfers on any hole near the clubhouse. I am sure I could have finished 9 holes in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Also it is ridiculous to have carts in by 6:30 when it gets dark at around 7:30. I can’t believe they turned away money in this economy. I wonder what the owner thinks about that.
