In summary

Black Birch Golf Course is appreciated for its affordability, friendly staff, and attractive layout, making it a suitable choice for beginners and families. The course's rural setting and historical charm add to its appeal. However, some visitors express concerns about inconsistent maintenance, particularly regarding the condition of the greens, fairways, and bunkers, which may detract from the overall golfing experience for more seasoned players.

It's a great little place especially for beginners bc it's pretty inexpensive. It's a full 18 hole course in a pretty and rural setting. The only complaint I would have is that they don't always do an amazing job at mowing so it can often be very difficult to find your ball, so bring a few!

This course even earns one star only because I got a hot deal on GolfNow and only paid $21.99. Had I payed full price of $57 for 18 with a cart it would have been the worst golf experience I’ve ever had. It’s clear the owners are not putting any money into this course. The “fairway” is as long as your typical rough at a normal course. The greens are the worst I’ve ever seen, full of pitting, making the ball jump all over the place and slower than anything I’ve ever seen. Making more than a 4ft putt would be next to impossible. No amenities on the course such as water coolers or drink carts. Bu…

I will give it five because I'm realistic. This place is great for beginners and kids. I take my kids and they don't care about the fairways. The staff is always super nice to my kids and you can't beat the price to take three boys. If you're expecting lake of isles go there, but if you want a laid back environment where you can work on things while your kids have a blast come here.

This golf course is in rough shape. Tee boxes are a mess and greens are covered in divets. The bunkers were rocky and weeds covered much of them. The woman staff member in the clubhouse was quite honestly a bigger turn off than the poor condition of the course. She was rude from the start of our round to the very end. We were albeit a bit slow, but she came out and accosted us for not finishing yet even though there was another player out on the course well behind us. She made another rude comment to our group in the parking lot reiterating we were late even though she never communicated a ti…

I grew up on this course, learn to play here over 50 years ago. Then it was just a nine hole course. Eventually expanded to 18 holes. Played there regularly for many years, and it was never really well-maintained. Went back this week and I was extremely surprised at the improvements that have been made. Highly recommend anyone in the area to give it a try. Greens were in great, great shape. Many improvements, such as several well laid out asphalt cart paths. Realigned several holes to make them fair, but challenging. Cleaned out many areas of brush and undergrowth. Ponds are well-maintained, w…

The course layout is great, so much potential. Conditions aren't great, no real difference between fairway and rough. Greens are slow and not in the best condition. For the price it's a good course.

The low cost of this course does not in any way justify playing here. This could be a wonderful course, it is laid out very well and the greens are in very good shape. The course has not been kept up though. Fairways are 90% crabgrass and have zero roll after your initial drive. Tee boxes are similarly all crabgrass. Unless they invest in new sod and keep the course up, avoid it, as it does not provide an enjoyable experience.

Came for the first time 8/4/17. Was surprised at this hidden gem. Course is clearly making a comeback. I absolutely love the layout-- it's challenging yet playable. The place is steeped in history as the course was once the focal point of a resort dating back to the 30's. There is so much potential here with a great club house and the surrounding real estate. Come on out, support local golf and give the course a try. The prices are very reasonable and the staff friendly.

I'd rate the course a 4 Staff a 5 Value a 5 This course is a gem, and I'd certainly have a new golf home if I was a local. It's hard to find affordable golf courses anymore that are in good condition and you leave having a fun time. Course was in good shape and provided enough challenge for an intermediate golfer. Certain areas, the tee boxes could be improved, but so do most courses. For the price, it is unbelievable value for the conditions. I also like that you can walk, which is becoming rare in golf. Staff was very friendly and contributed to the experience. I wish there were more c…

This would be my favorite course to play at. Has 18 holes great holes, all well kept and maintained. Walking 9 is only $10 which is the cheapest I have found, and honestly it doesn't seem like a $10 course. I've played on $20-$30 courses that are half as nice as this one. Definitely would suggest checking them out.

Cheap to play. The course is very shabby. They are trying to improve but very slow on doing so. Good to play early in season when trying to get the rust out of game because of price. The layout is nice. As of 11/07/17 course is in the best shape of season.

My first time playing this course and I love the layout. A real all round test of a golfer's skills and I think as long as the conditions are good that experienced golfers will give it praise. No complaints of tall and unkempt fairway grass from me. Everything looked well manicured. Though the greens were cut pretty short allowing for fast putts. The conditions were very wet due to the amount of rain as of late. But it was tolerable. Some of the sand traps are like concrete, particularly on the front nine. Perhaps change the composition of sand a bit? {I'm no groundskeeper}. And while though…
