In summary

Clay Kizer Golf Club in Austin is frequently praised for its well-maintained courses, forgiving layout, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice for both high and low handicappers. The club offers two distinct courses with wide fairways and strategic challenges, complemented by a large driving range and putting greens. While most reviews highlight the excellent condition of the greens, a few visitors have noted issues with greens maintenance and the difficulty of securing weekend tee times.

Fairways are wide and forgiving, but still interesting enough to keep you thinking about every shot. The greens roll smooth and true, which makes a big difference. Pace of play felt relaxed, no pressure from behind. Staff were welcoming and kept everything organized. A great place to spend a few peaceful hours with a set of clubs.

Course was excellent. Fairways and greens were solid. Grounds keeper had a hardworking crew. Two courses next to each other. Crowded, but felt like there was plenty of space still. Patrons and staff nice and helpful. Price is good. Easy to get tee time scheduled.

What an amazing course. I flew in from El Paso and headed straight there. It was a busy Friday and I luckily got in with a 3some. The layout was fantastic and very forgiving. It was in such good shape. Greens were like a perfect carpet, they were just really slow. Probably because they got 3 inches of rain that morning. You must play this course if you are visiting.

Had a great time playing golf here today. Perfect weather just a few weeks after having a winter storm. The greens were in amazing condition and the fairways are pretty wide open. Definitely would recommend checking it out!

Kizer and Clay are great courses and are very well maintained! Kizer has more water, Clay has more trees and bunkers. Very large and accessible driving range and putting greens as well! Make sure to book early since tee times fill up fast. I can typically get in 18 holes with a cart for around $50. Looking forward to when I can get back on the links!

Review based on course maintenance and price. On a Thurs, $53 with cart included. Course very well maintained and greens were excellent. Fairways and rough are distinctly separate and love that. Didn’t expect this muni course to be much but value and overall is definitely 5 ⭐️

I wanted to like this course. Visited on a great day and paired with a good group of players. Solid layout with a few challenging holes. Didn’t matter, greens were terrible. Not sure if they were recently seeded or if they are unhealthy but burnt out in many spots with putts hopping consistently. I know this is a muni but please take better care of your greens.

I love this golf course. Even in the middle of August the course was vibrant and inviting! The green were in great shape as well as the fairways and the pace of play was fine. We do Segway Golf with Transport Yourself so it was off the charts fun!

Roy Kizer Golf Course in Austin, TX is an outstanding public course that impresses on multiple levels. The greens were in great condition—smooth, well-maintained, and true-rolling. The layout is ideal for high handicappers, offering generous fairways and playable rough, yet it still presents enough strategic challenges to keep low handicappers engaged. Water hazards and well-placed bunkers demand smart shot selection without feeling punishing. The staff at Kizer were professional, respectful, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. Their friendly and organized approach c…

Set your expectations. This is a public course in an expressive golf market. If you want fancy and $100+ green fees there are plenty of places to go. If you want to drink with a club in you hand there are a indoor simulators and Top Golf locations. But if you want to spend a relaxing day with most of your hard earned money in your pocket and enjoy a fairly well maintained and design course than this is a good choice. Fairly open design but lined with water and trees. Avoid the fairways of most courses that are lined with expensive homes and step into the wild side at Kaiser.

WARNING, GREENS UNDER REPAIR! Sharing what I wish was told to us on the phone or website, but the greens are seriously under repair. When we went, temporary greens were being put in place, but we were still playing on the greens as shown, with NO discount and NO notice! Fairways and tee boxes looked normal otherwise.

Great links style course here in Austin. Paired up with Jimmy Clay. Both Municipal courses. Can get backed up on the weekend.
