In summary

Deer Run Golf Club is appreciated for its challenging course layout and picturesque setting, with several reviewers noting improvements in course conditions and the friendly, helpful staff. However, some visitors have raised concerns about inconsistent greens, course maintenance, and customer service experiences, particularly at the front desk. Despite these issues, the course remains a popular choice for those seeking a scenic and demanding round of golf.

the only impressive part of this course was the beautiful scenery. greens were not good some of the fairways weren’t great either. I was hopeful after seeing they got new owners but was thoroughly disappointed and will not be returning. also be careful on hole ten because the driving range is directly to the left of it so while in the middle of my own fairway there were not only a ton of balls in our fairway but twice a rogue range ball landed way too close to comfort to me. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and add some pretty photos

Finally had the opportunity to visit this Course this afternoon. A challenging golf course nestled within a tranquil valley, where rolling hills create a natural amphitheater of lush green fairways. The landscape is an ever-changing canvas of gentle slopes nestled amoug several ponds. In the distance, you can spot a few golfers leisurely making their way down the fairways, enjoying the peaceful beauty of nature. It's a place where every hole feels like it’s been crafted perfectly to blend with the natural contours of the land—a perfect retreat for golf enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Will…

Can play a lot nicer courses around the metro for the same price if not cheaper. Paid $50 for a round on Memorial Day. Idk if it was more because of the holiday or what but they over booked and ran out of golf carts. Our tee time was supposed to be at 1 but they were out of carts so we didn’t even get carts till about 1:10. Course wasn’t in very good shape. Greens were in decent shape but whoever placed the pins must have been having a bad day because I think almost every pin location was within 10ft of the edge and they have some big greens. Rest of the course was really dry and hard. Roughs…

Impressed with the improvements since last time golfing there 2 years ago. Greens and tee boxes were excellent. First cut a little long but due to weather expected. Look forward to another round,

It may not be Pebble Beach or Torrey Pines but that’s exactly why this course is my go-to. Me and my golf buddies love this course for its difficulty and its wonderful staff. Every time I go out, the pro-shop and starter are wonderful. The carts are fast and clean, and the tee-boxes and greens are well maintained and range from easy to extremely difficult. It’s a little bit tucked off the highway, and don’t let the somewhat commercial look of the buildings put you off… it’s an absolutely phenomenal course. Beautiful play surface, beautiful homes surrounding it, and beautiful views that make an…

DO NOT COME HERE!! From desk worker Kate caused me emotional distress, I am a 17 year old that struggles with anxiety and public speaking, my cousin had been trying to get me to go golfing for the first time in 3 months, when we arrived Kate gave us the worst attitude she kept interrupting when I was talking just asking questions about renting golf clubs, then she laughed when I had asked what the junior rate was, she humiliated me and and I won’t be going out for another 3 months, Kate is exactly what’s wrong with this world, not simply allowing us kids to golf without making us feel like we…

First 9 holes with a terrible layout! Hole #5 you have to play thru a car pad to continue your game (in between the car pad there's just big bushes in the left and a lake in the right). In another hole you have to hit your first shot thru a big line on threes (picture below). Plus most of the greens are very narrow and elevated thus unless you are an excellent golfer your balls will frequently slide out of them! Not there playing again!

The course design is great, but this place needs some TLC to be a premium option. Rn it's $40 to play 18 with a cart, which is fair considering the condition. If they fixed the drainage, repaved the cart paths, and releveled the tee boxes, it would be 5 stars. $40 is the only reason it's not a 3 star, if it was comparable to other premium options in price it would be lower. 5 par 5s, 5 par 3s, cool design, but needs some TLC to be a great spot.

This establishment has really taken a turn for the better. The course conditions are rapidly improving and the staff, from the people in the clubhouse to the starter to the grounds keepers were really a breath of fresh air. Furthermore, when I finished my round I realized my phone was missing, I had accepted the fact that I had misplaced it somehow and was ready to head to the store to buy a new one. However, when I went to turn in the key for the cart, I saw my cellphone sitting on the counter right next to the register. I said, "I think that's my phone" and the employee said someone had pic…

Great place to golf, challenging, a few greens had small turf issue, but all in all good place to golf, I’ll definitely be back!

Updating my review after our weekend outing. Course was in much better shape than previous outing. Still needs some improvement, but could see a lot of progress. Again, the staff was very helpful and friendly. Thanks for a great outing!! Staff in the club house were very friendly. Course is in pretty bad shape. Most holes you can't tell the difference between fairway and rough. Very disappointed. In that kind of shape it wasn't worth what we paid. Hopefully they can get it together, challenging couse for most average golfers.

Thursday 8/4/2022, We drove from Des Moines metro to this course. My golf partner and I had a fantastic outing. The young gal at the front desk was courteous and respectful. She was very helpful and got us going in quick minute. The course layout was challenging. Love the hills and the water hazards. Some golfers are not up to the challenge, but we love it and will likely come back again and again. The greens were nice and cooperative. The fairways we're wide and giving. Overall we had an amazing time. The courteous young gal at the front desk and the challenging course equate to an amazing ti…
