In summary

FDR Golf Club is appreciated for its affordability and relaxed atmosphere, making it a suitable option for beginners and those seeking a casual round of golf. The staff is noted for being friendly and helpful, and the course offers a spacious layout. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, with reports of poor fairway and green conditions, inadequate signage, and issues with the online reservation system. Some also mention that the amenities, such as restrooms and food options, could be improved.

Great improvement on the fairways. Good housekeeping. Ground crew work has noticeably improved within the last few months. Relaxing atmosphere. Rest rooms could use improvement, food bar needs more selections.

I am a beginner and this course is not in the best shape but it offers a laid back experience for a newbie. DO NOT USE THEIR ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM AS YOU WILL LIKELY BE CHARGED TWICE. I have been charged as a no show after playing so in effect I paid double the amount. I will never put my credit card in that system again and suggest you do not either.

Absolutely terrible conditions. I paid $11 for a 12:40 Sunday tee time, and the price was definitely too good to be true. Fairways were basically rough everywhere, the green has never been upkept, and the grounds are full of ditches and holes. Spend the extra $10 or so and go to a course where the groundskeepers care.

Come on everyone. This course isn’t THAT bad. Here’s my review, from a first timer there. 5/19/2019 PROS: a lot of wide open room on this course. Plenty of room to grab the driver and let it fly Pace of play was good. 3 hours, and that’s with being stuck behind a slow group of 3. Cart was fast. It was $17 to book online, incredible price. CONS: Not a lot of clear direction on the course. Confused multiple times as where to go next. a lot of VERY tall plants that made it nearly impossible to tell if anybody is ahead of you. No cart person driving around selling snacks/beverages A lot of the “…

The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. The problem that they have is that most people treat the course terribly, while they're the same people who expect so much. Golf there in the fall or winter, when the summer crowds are gone and done with throwing beer cans or driving carts on the Tee boxes and greens, and see how nice this course is and how well it is maintained. Is it the best course I ever played? No, but it's a nice course, inexpensive and one that has a great set of regulars.

The greens and tee boxes are in very bad shape. Weeds and crab grass seem to be on every single green. Piles in the lune of the lawnmower of dead cut grass was everywhere. Balls constantly had to be pulled out from under the thatch. I understand its a municipal course but the others seem to be better taken care of. The air conditioning in the clubhouse is broken and there were fans all over the place. I felt very bad for the girl working inside, it was so very hot. Very sad condition made for a less than pleasant experience. :-(

This rating and review is specific to the driving range. I went on Sunday to hit balls and I was really disappointed with the facilities. 1. There are no yardage markers at the range (I'm not sure you can call it a driving range without, at the very least, yardage markers). 2. The mats are in really poor shape and were scattered all about. 4. There are no rubber tees to even hit driver off of the mats. 5. There are large trees covering a good chunk of the range so that about a quarter of the mats were not usable. They did have at least a putting green and a chipping green that I briefly used,…

Course looks like it gets no care. If it rains close to when you’re looking to play, it floods a lot.

This course is a mess. For what they charge you’d think it’ll be in better shape. This course should be free to Philadelphia residents. It should be a crime to even have Rates for this course. The front nine is like a big mud hole as well as the back nine just not as bad. The fairways are like roughs. Puddles in the middle of the fairways. Just all around a terriabel course. I will never play here again. It’s a shame course it used to be half decent. Poor management.

It's a pretty decent golf course, for being in the borders of the city of Philadelphia, PA. It's a full-sized 18 holes and they have improved it a lot over the years. I sometimes go there, and to the adjacent FDR Park, just to get away; it's a fairly large park, with 5 or 6 lakes in it; a good spot for some quiet time, ( most of the time!)

This course is cheap and the conditions reflect that. If you're an avid golfer, FDR will not be enjoyable for you. I usually go once or twice in the beginning of the season for a few warmup rounds, but it's more worth the time to travel out to Delaware County if you're looking for a nice round with much better landscape and scenery.
