In summary

Hamakua Country Club is praised for its unique, old-fashioned charm, with a well-maintained 9-hole course offering stunning ocean views and a challenging layout due to significant elevation changes. The staff is noted for their friendliness, and the course is considered a great value with affordable all-day play rates. Some visitors mention the course's unconventional layout, with shared fairways and greens, can be confusing, and there are occasional concerns about proximity to residential areas.

This is golf old world style. Nothing fancy. Shared greens, shared fairways. 9 greens, 36 tee boxes. Don't take yourself too seriously here, just go play.

Such a fun little course. Super friendly owners, let me go have fun late in the day. Way more gorgeous than what the map shows. Course is in great condition for the price. Will 100% play again if I’m back in town.

This was an absolutely amazing experience. 9 holes on an old fashioned golf course surrounded by 1920s constructed houses. It's a walking course with many hills, but you can't beat the quality of the course and the price. 15$ all day. Best golf game I ever played. Best views on the island.

Great course. $20/day. It's 9 holes with sufficient tees to make it a par 3 or par 4 and vary play to get 18 in. Well maintained, a real pretty course. The elevation change is significant and makes play going up the hill a real challenge.

Very welcoming hostess! Played par4 and par3 options, definitely challenging due to raised greens ans uphill slopes, was great fun!

Went to Hawaii to vacation and visit family and met up with my cousin's husband and dad to play a round here at HCC. Had a great time. This is a small, 1920's course design that criss-crosses tee boxes and greens that was VERY interesting to say the least. You walk the course which is steep and a great workout. The clubhouse was closed so I dropped my $15 in an envelope using the honor system and hit away. This was the most unique course I've ever played so if you're in the neighborhood, be sure and stop and play. You wont be disappointed.

Half decent little nine hole course for casual golfers. 20$ to play as much as you want, $10 after 4 oclock. Nice view of the ocean. Very slow and bumpy greens.

Great course with cheap prices. Course layout is a bit confusing and is hard for a beginner. Extreme elevation changes make this course hard, you rarely get to hit on an level surface and the holes criss cross each other. Some of the greens are extremely close to residential homes without vegetation or trees to protect them from an unintentionally long ball. I was about 130yds out and my shortest clud i had was a 9i. I took a bit off of it but still ended up hitting it over the green and bouncing it off some lady's roof. I looked around to see if anyone was there so i could apologize but i did…

This is a great experience. Basically three fairways that all nine holes share, so you criss cross. Never crowded. 15.00 for all day. A good workout as it is on a hill.

Unique rustic gem of a golf course. If you come with low enough expectations of a golf course, you can enjoy this local spot for what it is.
