What People Say

In summary

Hilo Municipal Golf Club is frequently praised for its beautiful setting, well-maintained course, and excellent value, with wide fairways and challenging greens that appeal to both locals and visitors. The staff, particularly at the restaurant and driving range, are often commended for their friendliness and accommodating nature. However, some visitors have reported issues with customer service at the check-in desk and have noted concerns about the lack of rental clubs and restroom facilities on the course.

Fun golf course. Hit away. Basically the fairways are wide open. The fairways are lined with beautiful palm trees and nice soft consistant green grass. You'll probably have a shot and a good lie. Greens are ok. Competitive shapes and slopes. Some are builtup with steep dropoffs around the perimeter so hit it with a little spin to get the ball to hold if you can. The restaurant is great. We had lunch and the prices are very reasonable. The staff "including the restaurant " was excellent except for the greens fees guy. He was rude and short with me for no reason. I was completely ignored for 45-…

Incredible value. $42 green fee for non-residents is great + $12 cart fee. Maintained well. Despite being busy, pace of play was excellent. Definitely recommend to visitors looking for an inexpensive round of golf. Just dont expect resort course conditions.

Excellent well maintained and clean driving range. There are plenty of driving range spots with good spacing. $4 for a bucket of balls is a good deal. Ample parking. Recommend.

Muni use to be the "ultimate pasture golf experience" until they jazzed up the place, now you better hit the driving range and warm up before you go out! Goodbye pasture, hello nice greener! Aloha 🤟🤟🤟🤟

Always a great experience on this course. My husband walks with a cane and the staff has been so kind and accommodating to him. The food at the restaurant is great too! 👍🏻

Fairly decent course for the price. UPDATE: I changed my review stars from 3 to 1 because I keep seeing so many golfers urinating on the golf course. Pilau. And seems like the Course managers and County P&R managers allow it even after they’ve been informed. It’s against Hawaii law to urinate in public places. 🙄

If your local I'm sure it's a great place. Don't bother otherwise. Course is ok, range is cheap and good. Visited hawii long enough to get sick of being taxed exta fees for being a fellow American but from a different state.

Beautiful course. Not easy, long, but enjoyed the game. Markings need updating but other golfers friendly and pointed us in right directions. Lots of folks walk...Great day..

We live in Kona and came to Hilo for the weekend. Played around of golf and it was the most fun playing golf for fun that we had in a long time. The course is challenging and fun. Recommend it to anyone who would like to just have fun with a round of golf. I can’t beat the price and the hospitality.

I stopped in at Kim's, the restaurant here, and the service was phenomenal. The waitress brought a beer out at the same time she asked me if I wanted another. Then she just handed me the next! Awesome!!

Golf course is a great place to take a long time to stop COMPLETELY. I will take advantage of the same kind of times in my life that I have stopped there for 3 to 4 hour at night. I am going to be with my girlfriend who will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER feel more than just that .

A true 18 hole course, 35$ a month and You can golf till the Sun goes down almost every day. It's a challenging situation on a few holes, and the par 5s are the best. Come on out and say hello to half of Hilo!
