In summary

Hilton Head National Golf Club is highly praised for its beautiful course layout, excellent conditions, and friendly staff, offering a well-maintained and scenic experience without residential developments. The course is noted for being both enjoyable and challenging, with modern amenities like GPS-equipped carts and a welcoming atmosphere. Some visitors mention minor drawbacks such as occasional slow pace of play, limited on-course amenities like water coolers, and the absence of a beverage cart on certain days.

The Fellas started our golf trip in October here at Hilton Head National and it did not disappoint at all! Beautiful from tees to greens and lots of woods to play your ball out of if you go in there. Simply a beautiful course and the price of $175 wasn’t terrible either! Worth it for the conditions and the experience. My only two issues were: 1. They need more coolers with water around the course and 2. The carts are very strict about where you drive. They told us to stay out of the woodland areas, but if you even go close or go in some pine straw you’re putting the cart into reverse. The coo…

I had an awesome time visiting Hilton Head and playing National. The course is beautiful and in wonderful condition. Despite being in flat swampy South Carolina it offers plenty of rolling hills, elevation changes, curves, and wonderfully kept parkland courses. Every hole felt fair but challenging. The driving range is grass and in excellent condition despite the horrible weather lately. The carts are very modern. And every staff member is extremely friendly and helpful. Since this was my first time here they offered lots of history and advice for the course. All of the prices were fair and th…

This was such an enjoyable golf course to play. The layout was fun, nothing overly challenging, with water on a few holes and some undulation here and there. The trees give you that Pinehurst feel. The distances were very similar on quite a few holes, but it was in great condition. It was a very compact course so you’re weaving in between all the holes often, luckily they have clear signage. There was a ranger out there managing pace of play which was awesome. Only negatives I noticed were no cart girl on a Sunday, the bugs were crazy, and the bathrooms were in a trailer at the clubhouse. None…

This course is awesome and the staff is even better. Super laid back vibe which makes the entire experience more enjoyable -- especially for my brother, dad, and I down in Hilton Head on vacation. We booked a second round there for the week, that's how much we loved it. The pro even gave us a little discount since we chose to play there a second time. Awesome place.

Nice public play course in hhn! the conditions were pretty good, the greens were in really great shape for a public course! I would say the highlight of this golf course is there were absolutely no homes on the course whatsoever which to me makes it an even better experience! I would highly recommend this golf course

Course was in great shape and the greens were pure. Got out early and never waited on a tee box. Everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming, Would 100% recommend!

Played 2/9/2026 - course is in great condition and pace of play was excellent. Staff was great. This is one of the “easier” courses around HH (if there is such a thing) - fairways are generous and water really doesn’t come into play often. A great course to start a golf trip if you haven’t been playing and need to ease back into shape.

I’m only giving one star because I can’t give a .5 star. Staff was friendly and made good conversation. Unfortunately for the price of $100 a round the conditions were not worth it at all. Playing at Golden Bear set the standard for what we expected of Hilton head golf. They made us feel welcomed, the food was delicious and the conditions were amazing. On top of that it was more affordable! Unfortunately our high hopes of playing at Hilton head national were crushed after 3 holes. Probably even after the first…

This track was excellent. The course layout was challenging, fun and in great shape. Played early spring so some rough was still yellow but the greens were absolutely gorgeous, rolled and not just painted. This was my favorite course to play on a 72 hole golf trip. Golf carts have GPS and maps.

Nice course. Very friendly staff. The practice area was ok (missing chipping area). Carts were in great condition. Fairways are nice and good size (no houses), tee boxes ok (little uneven), greens were true and nice. May want to carry some bug spray. Would definitely recommend it.

Fantastic place! Well worth the money! Well manicured, staff is off the charts! Pro shop was very friendly. Had a player leave a club behind and a marshal promptly caught up to us and returned it. We will be back!

So I heard the greens were ruff ( see what I did there?) when I went in June. Sorry for my very late post. However, my wife and I loved the course. It was very well maintained, the greens were nice. The service was nice. It was a very great experience. Some people just can't be happy I guess. Anyway, we enjoyed it and played there quite a few times. I would suggest it for beautiful, quiet, meticulous greens, and a beautiful course.
