In summary

Lake Monterey Golf Course is often praised for its beautiful setting, well-maintained course conditions, and friendly staff, particularly under the management of Dave. Many visitors appreciate the challenging yet accessible layout, along with the additional amenities like social events. However, some guests have experienced issues with slow pace of play and felt unwelcome due to interactions with staff or other players, which detracted from their overall experience.

The course was alright nothing special but the guy in the clubhouse was not happy he was mad at life which brought me down also. He was saying cuss words at his system when we paid but it was his problem. His bad attitude made me play like crap

Lake Monterey Golf Course - A True Gem! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Having been a regular at Lake Monterey for years, I can honestly say the transformation under Dave's management has been nothing short of remarkable. It's like a breath of fresh air has swept through the entire facility! The course itself is simply breathtaking. The scenic views are truly stunning, offering a picturesque backdrop to every hole. What's even more impressive is the impeccable maintenance. The greens are consistently smooth and fast, the fairways are like carpets, and even the bunkers are meticulously raked. You can tell a real pride i…

B-E-A-UTIFUL course. Very well kept, friendly management. Stopped on our way from Ohio and will likely stop on our way home. Highly recommended! (Played front 9)

Played 18 here. I read reviews about it being a little narrow, but I had no such issue. It’s maintained fairly well. They do kinda overbook tee times in my opinion, we were waiting on a group in front of us, but the ranger came up to our group to tell us to speed up our pace. That was a first for me, but other than that I did enjoy the round.

I cannot express enough how much I appreciate this golf course. From the welcoming atmosphere in the clubhouse to the meticulously maintained greens, this venue truly embodies the spirit of golf. It serves as an ideal location to introduce my ten-year-old son to the game. The course consistently maintains excellent conditions, featuring a variety of tee options and a diverse mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s. The front nine offers a more open layout suitable for longer drives, while the back nine presents a series of engaging challenges and surprises. Additionally, I have established a women's league…

A dress code was not posted on their website or anywhere around the clubhouse however, the manager was sure to very rudely let my girlfriend know that her tank top did not fit the course dress code and that her shoulders must be covered. No one seemed to make a stink about the man playing barefoot in front of us wearing an American flag swim suit a sleeveless shirt. I understand the desire to uphold the traditions of the game but you need to uphold the conditions of course first as most of the tee boxes were in complete disarray covered in weeds, broken tees, trash, and patches of dirt.

The WORST golfing experience of my life - do not recommend unless you are an old retired angry man that likes cussing at families and telling them that they’re going to hell. This is exactly what happened to my family on a Monday afternoon, on the first tee, because this guy didn’t like that we had six golfers and an extra rider that wanted to spend time with her dad (4 adults, 3 children) - we hadn’t even had an opportunity to split our group because we were literally still at the first tee. This man proceeded to yell at us, cussed at us, told us we needed to go to church, and that we’re goin…

I really enjoy playing here! The staff is great and I can't say enough good things about the course manager Dave. I frequent this course because it's so close to my house and it's one of the less expensive options around. It really is a hidden gem!

As far as the course...it we very well kept up and great to play. The reasons for the 3 stars is we brought our son as a ride along and the ranger watched us the whole time for the first 2 holes. Did not make us feel welcome and like we were doing something wrong trying to get our child into the joy of golf. I understand they charge if your son plays. I was very upfront when I called and booked a time to play that we would be bringing our son to just ride...even brought it up when we brought him. The other thing is if you are not familiar with the layout of the course you could easily get los…

First time playing this course and it was such a a great experience, the gentlemen that checked us in was super friendly and helpful, the course was in great condition and taken care of. Fairly challenging with great scenery, rangers on the field keeping the pace of play good for everyone. They made us feel very welcome I will be back for more rounds and highly recommended you come give it a shot if you have not yet

Went on Friday at 1pm got done at 630 pm, the rate of play is about 30 minutes per hole and can be longer. Very short and no decency when it comes to passing other players. The course was just not that good at all. When I called the office to let them know there was a 30 minute wait between each hole they said they’d send someone out to speed it up and the did-the guy sat on his cart on his phone and was chain smoking. I would never come back here. Terrible experience.
