What People Say

In summary

Pine Forest Golf Club is appreciated for its scenic layout, featuring beautiful elevation changes and views along the Colorado River, with friendly staff enhancing the experience. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's current condition, citing issues with the greens, fairways, and tee boxes, which they feel detract from the overall playability. There is hope among patrons that new management will address these maintenance challenges to restore the course to its former quality.

Have been playing Pine Forest off & on since early 80's and as much as I hate to pan them right now it is not in good shape. Played 2/1/25, it will be awhile before I try it again. I love the layout, it rolls all over the place and you better be accurate on your approach on #11. But the greens are so poor. Ball wobbles badly when putted. Poor fairways, poor traps I can put up with but I need to be able to putt. Here's to hoping Pine Forest err…Bastrop River Club can find there way again.

Staff is nice. Course is unplayable. $40 for fairways that are half dirt, and the greens are an absolute mess. Greens are 90% weeds and full of bare dirt spots. I’ve been to courses that are under maintenance and renovation but they discount their fees when that happens. I’m paying $40 for a course worth $12. No issues with the staff, just a very poorly managed course… need to fire their grounds keeper.

They really should do something about the zero traction on the carts. Many steep hills and they have caution signs posted, but even on the brake our cart skidded down a few of the steepest grades. Extremely unsafe. The fairway grass was in horrible shape. With a little TLC, this would be so much better - so many breathtaking views!

Have come to this course in previous years, and it was not bad and worth the $30-$40. But after today, I don't even think I would go and use this place's driving range… Half of the tee boxes, you could not put your tee in the ground because it was so hard. Adding on that, there would be more sand than grass on the tee box. You were lucky to putt, as most greens were covered in sand and mud. The staff was very rude to us and quickly assumed that we were out on the course, stripping up the greens and breaking fences. Before we could finish the 18th, one worker walked over and pulled the flag out…

My first time golfing with brother and wife! Beautiful setting! Nature felt GOOD! Lots of deer roaming the area.

TL;DR: Course is in very poor condition but has potential. Ownership doesn't seem to want to improve the condition either. I wouldn't consider myself a great golfer and I am not too picky in regard to course management, but i have to leave a review of this course because of the state it was in. I paid $45 over the weekend (7/14/24) to play here and the course was not packed and I was able to get a quick round in, but the condition of the fairways, greens, and tee boxes were horrible. most of the greens were not fully seeded or had crabgrass overtaking the turf, the teeboxes were in similar or…

Lonnie review. We have been there many times. The staff is great. But when we revisited the course. Terrible shape can't putt greens. Holes everywhere when it is fixed up again we will return. Hurry because we like the staff and course. Just saying

drove an hour and a half to play here after making a tee time a week in advance and no one mentioned the course was unplayable and i would need a hammer to put my tees in all 18 tee boxes! there was maybe two greens you could actually putt on.. this course has so much potential but green fee should be 15 bucks for how little they care for it

I wanted to take a moment to share an honest review. The Staff - Friendly and helpful The Grill - Good food and cold beer The Course - At this time it’s in such bad shape that it’s not playable. And, that is NOT an exaggeration. The greens are horrible The tee boxes are horrible The fairways are horrible The club is under new ownership and they are quietly saying improvements are in the works. Major renovations next spring type deal. That’s great! I want this club to return to the quality gem of a course it was years ago. That said, if this is the case; new ownership should put out a st…

I played here on 23 April, 2023. The course has so much potential and could be fun but there was zero upkeep of the tee boxes and fairways. The greens were non-existent, you could not hope to putt on them. This is all fine and well if you want to be a local dirt track that charges $10 for folks to come whack away at a course that doesn't care about how it looks, but charging $50 is outrageous. Stay well away if you are interested in playing on a course with greens or fairways.

Please if you slightly enjoy golf don't come here. Me and my friends play often and like to adventure out and play other courses. Drove a hour and a half to pay $50 dollars for one of the worst courses I have ever played. Tee boxes so hard its a task just to get a tee down. Fairways you have dodge holes and if you get lucky not to land in them you land in water because they are over watered. Also many spots with no grass at all. The GREENS 🤬🤬🤬 dead spots everywhere and over watered as well. Also the greens look more like fairway grass (ever hole). I would iron/wedge to the green and just picku…
