In summary

Southern Dunes Golf Club is praised for its immaculate course conditions, challenging yet enjoyable layout, and friendly, accommodating staff. The club offers excellent amenities, including a well-regarded restaurant and attentive on-course service, contributing to a memorable golfing experience. However, some visitors have noted inconsistencies in bunker conditions and a feeling of being rushed by the starter, while ongoing construction has caused minor disruptions for a few.

Awesome golf out here at Ak-Chin. Course was in great shape and was very well taken care of. Lots of bunkers, but lots of perfectly manicured fairways too. Front desk staff was awesome, but my only complaint would be the starter at the first tee making sure to let us know to keep up place of play and keep behind the group in front of us. Told us if we weren’t, then we weren’t playing fast enough. I get that pace of play is important, but it makes everyone out there feel rushed. Not really a welcoming thing to hear as you step on number one for the first time ever while you’re out in Arizona on…

Played during a cold end of January morning with frost delay. The pro shop had our names on vouchers for $15 off each person in the restaurant, which was a nice bonus. Since we had the delay we enjoyed some tasty breakfast. The course is in great condition, though many players do not fill fairway divots. The greens are great and challenging. All employees were nice and friendly.

Haven’t played here in 4 years, so it was a treat to get back. I used to play this track alot and have always loved it. Layout is great and challenging. Greens were rolling good for February. I think if you are over a 18 handicap you might get frustrated with the bunkers. They are doing some construction which sounds very exciting. New clubhouse and putting green coming. Their pro shop and merch has always been fantastic. Beverage carts every 2.5 holes which was great. The restaurant food is 10/10 and the outside post round sitting area is great. Played with my 14 year old son and he played th…

This place is the real deal. My friends and I played here last week for the first time while visiting for the WMPO and were very impressed. Those bunkers are brutal but the layout is just so fun with condition being mint. We enjoyed our round here and want to thank Ak-Chin for the great hospitality in being able to move our round back one when we accidentally went to the wrong address. Same goes to all the friendly staff in the pro shop and restaurant--I enjoyed my first ever 'pop up'

What an awesome course. My group of 8 was in town for a golf trip, and boy were we glad we made the slightly longer driver to get down to this course! Conditions were immaculate, and staff was friendly. Really fun layout as well that makes you think, and not smash driver every hole. Reasonably priced as well compared to some of the other more expensive courses we played.

This is an awesome golf course. It felt like a video game. We’ve never played on a desert dune course before, and it was really cool. All the bunkers and how they enter played with the natural desert sands was really cool. The greens were in great shape. I highly recommend this course.

Second round here as a frequent AZ golf visitor and I can’t say enough great things about this course. Great conditions, great pace of play, and friendly staff. It’s worth the drive down from PHX.

Great experience times twelve. We had twelve military retirees in from around the country for back-to-back rounds of golf on a Friday. The Golf Club is undergoing significant construction improvements which will take this very special operation to the next level as soon as its completed. The starters, the restaurant staff, management and literally every person employed at Southern Dunes was delightful to interact with and very helpful. Leah out on the course provided refreshments at a frequency and a spirit that made even the Arizona roasting sun a manageable condition. Our group looks forward…

A Sanctuary in the Desert – Southern Dunes Golf Club Over the past eight months, while caring for my terminally ill father, I found myself needing somewhere to breathe, to reset, and to reconnect with life—even for just a few hours at a time. That place, without question, became Southern Dunes Golf Club. It wasn’t just a golf course—it was my sanctuary. And in every possible way, it exceeded all expectations. From the moment you drive up to the facility, the experience begins. The course itself is stunning—immaculately maintained fairways stretch across the desert landscape, with breathtakin…

Great course in great shape. I only had one complaint. The inconsistency of the bunkers. I wasn’t in all 106 of them, but more than I should’ve been. Some were nice soft sand, and the next one was like hitting off the cart path.

AK-Chin S. Dunes played there for the 1st time last week. Beautiful Desert Golf Course. Highly Recommended one of my favorite courses on the golf trip. The course is well designed with well placed bunkers, wide open fairways, tough fast greens, and great hospitality from the workers. When back in the area again will defiantly play again.

Played here about 7 years ago and was an excellent course too to bottom and cost was reasonable. Just played 4-18-26 and although it’s still a nice layout the current setup due to the new clubhouse construction makes the process to play not worth the experience. A few of the greens are in rough shape and many of the bunkers need to actually have sand in them.
