In summary

The Battleground at Deer Park is frequently praised for its well-maintained fairways and greens, challenging layout, and courteous staff, making it a popular choice in the Houston area. Many golfers appreciate the course's accessibility and reasonable pricing, although some have experienced issues with slow pace of play and inconsistent green conditions. Additionally, there are concerns about communication and management regarding membership policies and tee time bookings.

While on business in the Houston area I had a weekend available to play golf. I chose Battleground golf course in Deer Park for my Saturday round. It was a great course and I was paired up with two great locals who made the round really fun and not too competitive. Greens were in great condition, no complaints about the condition of the course. Quite a lot of water to loose balls in so take a few extras.

My favorite course in the Houston/Galveston area! Excellent greens & fairways. Courteous staff. Everything at this place just feels different from other golf courses. The layout never gets old. Always challenging, always fun to play. If you're like me and cant stand a slow pace of play, then tee off early monday thru thursday. Otherwise, plan for a 4 to 5 hour round. They keep this place in top notch condition and the prices to play here are very reasonable, therefore, ALOT of people play here.

I have been a loyal member at The Battleground at Deer Park for nearly five years, which makes this situation extremely disappointing. I recently found out that my membership had been terminated without any notice, phone call, or email. As a long-standing member, I expected at the very least clear communication regarding any changes affecting my membership. When I spoke with management, I was told that even though I joined prior to the new pricing structure, I would not be grandfathered in. While I understand businesses adjust pricing, the complete lack of communication and professionalism in…

Played here as a solo golfer on 3/16, teed off at 8:06am. I had hit the range here a couple of times and finally booked a round. I had a really great time. The course can be challenging but I still found it really accessible as a newer golfer. Because it was a slower, cold morning, I was able to take my time and really think about my shots and even played 2-3 balls on a couple of holes. The condition of the course was great, from the tee boxes to the fairways and the greens. I've already booked my next round and look forward to playing Battleground many times in the future.

Good course, well maintained and a very friendly staff. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the pace of play. I ended up combining with two other groups ahead of me because the group in front of us was most likely drunk and definitely playing two shots on every ball. There were four of them and they were not particularly good. I did not see a Marshall out there, it would have been nice if someone could have told the guys in front of us to hurry it up or even to skip a hole to allow the back up queue to play. Other than that, the course was great, greens are nice, I enjoyed the…

This golf course is really expensive for the sub par greens. I noticed there was a hot deal on Golf now for 35 per person. I call to confirm they are open and have carts and I speak to Travis. He confirms the tee time but says if I book with him it will be 49/per. I attempt to book on golf now and it won't process my payment. Somehow the rate increases after I called. No biggie if it's a decent course. We come to play and are met with numerous greens that look like this. For that price you would think that you could reasonably putt... Two stars given as the fairways seemed well taken care of a…

Conditions are coming back nicely, course is great. Pace of play continues to be an issue. Just simply one Marshall on the course driving around would work wonders, atleast on the weekend. It’s the one hiccup here that prevents me wanting to come back over and over...

Unique course. Some interesting and challenging holes. The views were different and enjoyable. As of March 2021 the greens were pretty much destroyed from the February freeze and very difficult to play on. As this is in deer park in between all the chemical plants the haze and stench is quite real as well. Will be back another month for sure!

Battleground has a great facility and some very nice holes, but greens are the golf course’s Achilles heel. Played there on 4/14/23. A couple of greens were terrible (sand on green or dead spots) and most are contaminated with a foreign grass strain that makes putting unpredictable. Similar experience over the last few years, so it’s not just a bad year.

A very disapointing golf trip today at battleground. i booked a tee time here from golf now. i payed the weekend green fees plus 15$ for a rider that dosent play. anyways, i played hole one and went to the second hole and was immediatley stopped due to the line of golfers backed up. luckily the golfers in front of me waiting in line asked me to join. i did. well we were waiting around 10-15 minutes between shots. very slow. then it decided to start raining. i was there around an hour and 15 minutes and only managed to play 4 holes. it gets better. so i went to the clubhouse to get a rain check…
