In summary

The Vista Links is frequently praised for its stunning natural setting and unique course layout, which many find both challenging and enjoyable. The staff is often noted for their friendliness and helpfulness, and the course is considered a great value for the price. However, some visitors express concerns about the maintenance of the fairways and greens, citing patchy grass and inconsistent conditions as areas needing improvement.

A super beautiful relaxed course! The views are *chefs kiss*

Huge field with many elevation changes. The place is stunning and surrounded by nature. The fee per golfer for 18 holes on a Saturday was $25. A two-seater golf cart wad included with the fee. If interested, you may also reserve a tee time slot in advance. I am surprised there was not many golfers during my visit. This is a hidden gem.

This course is in terrible shape. The greens are nothing but sand with small spots of grass. The fairways are spotty however that is the best part of the course. The tee boxes are almost non-existent. This is one of the worst courses that I have ever played. I definitely will not be back. I would just like to warm people don't waste your $20-$30 dollars to play.

We read the reviews before showing up to play a really inexpensive round of golf. What a great time. Fairways are wide open and the greens are in excellent shape. For the money we paid it was a great time.

Vista Links is a decent course for a regular hack such as myself. Not to unforgiving if played conservatively, but you can make it much more difficult on yourself--and potentially get yourself into some trouble--by taking some risks. I do wish the fairways were in better shape to make a straight drive more rewarding (I've seen courses with rough similar to some of these fairways), and that the greens were harder and faster (its impossible to get a read on them...they barely break because they're so slow), but overall, its not a bad course at all for a buddy and I to go whack some balls around.

Really enjoyed this course. Been wanting to play it for a while and finally drove up to play it. Worth the 90 min drive. Great bargain for a unique course. Only issue is the fairways as they're mostly grass. Hopefully with proper funding this can be done soon; as it will turn this place into a absolute gem.

Played Vista Links with 3 friends Saturday July, 30th. Have played this course quite bit over the past few years. But they have really let this course go and was in terrible condition. Tee boxes were chewed up and uncut, the fairways were spotty at best and also hadn't been cut for a while, and the greens were the worst I've played on in years. Lots of small bare spots that were sunken well below the normal surface of the green, unrepaired ball marks, making putting nearly impossible. The only bright spot of the day was when one of my playing companions, David White, had a hole-in-one on the p…

May 14, 2021 was a quiet and warm Friday afternoon when I walked this course for $14---what a bargain! My round took some 3'45" and I walked at a leisurely pace because the scenery was so lovely. The course got busier by the time I finished up shortly after 3:30PM, but I mostly had the place to myself, which is too bad because its such a value for the money for such a creative and engaging layout. The only downsides are what several other reviews have mentioned--the fairways are grass and are much like the nicely maintained second cut on a high class private course. Moreover, the greens were…

The staff (Ed, Donnie and Dawn) are always incredibly friendly and helpful. Course layout is tricky but not unpleasant. Get a cart if you don't regularly walk courses. Definitely would recommend.

I see a lot of complaints & it is true that it isn't perfect but it's my favorite place to play. It's a mini day trip for me. I really enjoy the length & layout of the course and there are some holes that will make you sweat a bit but if you can get it off the tee you're gonna be ok. (I, on the other hand, don't do so well) It's a place that isn't overwhelmed with people & they have a range and practice green. After 9 holes, I get a sandwich combo & sit & stare at those mountains before finishing up. After that, I typically head down to JJs Meat Shack for dinner before heading back to Salem th…

One star for the layout. Everything else was terrible. If someone bought this course from the municipality, planted proper grass on the tee boxes and in the fairways replacing the patchy dead stuff, cleaned out the creeks and bunkers of years of neglect, and took good care of it, this course could be spectacular. It has good bones. There is a diamond in this rough somewhere but unfortunately it is just in horrific state that it is akin to playing in a cow pasture. Stay away.

Perfectly good land wasted on a stupid golf course that only high paying 1 percenters seem to have access to. The rest of us who actually live here can't even afford to get in. Driving through we are stared down like we don't belong there? I get really sick of snotty people and snotty places. This should be used for something other than a worthless golf course. And I hope BV loses everything because of it. It's high tide Buena Vista (cops, courthouse employees, etc) gets every bit of karma they deserve for what they do to people.
