830 am tee time on a Monday morning. Immediately met by staff at bag drop. Easy check in. Range balls and putting area well maintained and beautiful. The course for on May 18 was pretty much immaculate in every sense. The cart path. The flower beds. The small canals that met creeks and water flow around greens. The fairways near and around the lake was very peaceful and picturesque. Pace of play was amazing. My handicap is a 13 and played from the whites. (Slope was above 130 and nearly 6100 yds). We did not eat on the premises however they were offering lunch. Golfers will appreciate the scen…

Playing golf these days is tough, for a new reason. Courses are crowded, and customer service is way down. Courses don’t need to worry about that when the tee sheets are full. No one tell Poplar Grove this secret! The space between tee times has a little extra room and that makes a huge difference. It’s nice to be able to enjoy the course without watching every shot in the group before you, or feeling pushed from behind. Speaking of enjoying the course, it’s gorgeous and it’s challenging. PG is bragging about its current enhancements, but it seems like they are always making enhancements. Tha…

I've been playing at Poplar Grove since it opened and I've never seen it in better shape than it is today. The amount of work they've put into the course and facilities is mind-blowing. It's always been the best layout in this part of Virginia (thank you Sam Snead), and now the course conditions match the beauty of the layout. I just played a two-day tournament at the PG this past weekend, and also played in a 27-hole tournament in May there. Each time, my entire group was received enthusiastically and treated like gold. It's a great experience, a tough test of golf, and I can't wait to get ba…

PG is the nicest course in the area. The course is always in great shape; greens are immaculate. The amenities and staff are top notch. PG’s ongoing investments and improvements show their commitment to continue to raise the bar. I highly recommend a round here if you have not played here before and it’s worth a trip.

Had the pleasure of playing Poplar Grove today and hands down the nicest course in Lynchburg area. Greens rolled true and the views/landscaping around the course were immaculate. Will definitely be going out again soon!!

Poplar Grove was incredible to work with as we held one of our Bad Golf Tour events there. Two days of incredible views and impeccable playing conditions. The staff was super accommodating the entire time. If you are in the area then this is a must play course!

Course is back open from their irrigation system being down for a few weeks. Overall, the course is in fair condition. Most the tee boxes are burnt out and have little to no grass. Fairways are fair condition, with some burnt out areas and crab grass. Greens were overall good. Play was slow b/c we got stuck between two member group playing in the club championship. Took about 5-1/2 hours to get around. Honestly, for the conditions, $120 for a round is way overpriced. It’s always been a good track but it’s overpriced for what you are getting (currently at least). Can play other courses in the a…

I been a member since 2022, Poplar Grove is truly a gem. The course is tough but fair, views are beautiful. The layout will fine tune your game for sure and make you want to master the course. The staff is super great and friendly. Jacob Mast, the Head Golf Professional is awesome! Wayne Page

All staff is outstanding! The Pro Jacob Mast is great, the restaurant team is wonderful and the club/cart staff are polite and conversational. Great practice facility and the course is in really good shape. The rough is demanding and as rough should, it punishes errant tee shots. The greens are fast but not lighting fast. They hold well hit iron shots and putt true (when you read them correctly). The bunkers are consistent throughout the course. It would be great if course ownership/members/management considered hosting a couple of high school regional or state matches. It is challenging but f…

Able to play Poplar Grove recently and was very impressed with the progress they continue to make. The course is terrific with so much attention to detail ( both on and around the actual golf course ) that it compares to any high-end resort course in the country. Highly recommended...

Poplar Grove is a golf course that you can't believe until you play it. The course is resort quality. The views are beyond beautiful. The layout makes you think about your game. It's challenging and engaging. The staff is friendly and courteous. With all the hype about big resort courses, this course will match them and more at about 1/2 the cost. Go there. Experience it. You'll be very glad you did.
