In summary

Colonial Hills Golf Club is appreciated for its well-maintained greens, friendly staff, and affordable rates, offering a scenic and enjoyable golfing experience with a variety of challenging holes. The course's layout is noted for its elevation changes and target golf experience, but some visitors mention issues with the fairways, tee boxes, and a lack of directional signage leading to confusion. While the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, there are occasional concerns about slow pace of play due to overbooking.

Colonial Hills is one of the most affordable golf courses in the Lynchburg area and is a course I’ve played for over 20 years. The course was in the best shape I’ve ever seen it in with the exception of the fairways and tee boxes which could use a little work. The course is relatively short and hilly and features tiny well manicured greens resulting in more of a target golf experience. The staff are first class and the golfers make you feel welcome, this is one of my favorite courses in central Virginia and one that I highly recommend.

Nice course, but horrible customer service. Over book tee times causing 5 holes to take an hour and a half. When I asked for a rain check it practically took a screaming match between the starter and I to get credited one. Starter proceeded to say the golf course is here to take my money. If you’re planning on an all day affair this is the place for you. Yes it took two hours and 16 minutes because I joined the group in front of me. 6 out of the 9 holes the group in front of me as well as us were sitting on the tee box while the two groups in front of us were on the fairway as well as the gree…

Great layout. Lacks directional signage on course and can be confusing. Great staff.

Very impressed!!! It was my first time playing the course and my experience was very good. Great rates for 18 holes with a cart, and speaking of the cart they have very nice brand new carts with screens showing gps and distances (which I didn’t get to try because they were fresh to the course)! The staff was super helpful and friendly. The pro shop was stocked full of amazing gear and even carrying some Good Good apparel which I thought was neat. Out on the course that greens were very well kept and not to mention the beautiful scenic views everywhere! The course has great holes really keepin…

All around enjoyable course. Forgiving fairways, and a nice variety of challenging holes. However, the tee boxers and cart paths both need work. Like others, I also found the hole signage terrible, which is basically nonexistent. I got turned around several times and had to ask other golfers for directions. Unfortunately I won’t play here again unless that is fixed. I’ve played for a long time on courses all over the country, and I’ve never seen a course with no signage for the direction of the holes or the distance information, etc.

So solid. Staff is all friendly, fees are super affordable, and the course gives nice variety. I've seen the course come in nicely from March to now. Fairways are A, greens A+, tee boxes B-, all of that shapes up for a great time on the course. My ONLY gripe, not enough directional signage... My first time on course I accidentally made a 700 yd par 5 by teeing off on 7 tee box, to 16 fairway/green, when I was going for hole 2 lol.

It was decent, today. I played here two months ago and the course was magnificent. The greens could've been a little better. Looks like the patrons would fix they're divots!! But all in all, decent, somewhat challenging course. For the money, probably better than most, at this price.

Fairways in good shape. Greens would be better if people would fix their divots.

Greens are in great shape, the rest of the course is okay. Cart paths are rough, and I’ll give the fairways a 5/10. Price is a little high for 18 holes.

Really enjoyed this course when we played. We had a group of four playing and never felt like we were rushed or holding anyone up. Course was in very nice shape and the clubhouse is nice and homey feeling. They also had some great chicken salad sandwiches! Course offers some really neat shots including elevation changes as well as over water shots. We played after 12 on a Saturday and only paid $27 to ride 18. Give this course a chance!
