In summary
Timber Trace Golf Club is highly praised for its beautifully maintained course, scenic layout, and friendly staff, with many noting significant improvements under new ownership. The course offers a mix of challenging and forgiving elements, making it appealing to a wide range of golfers. However, some visitors have experienced issues with tee time policies and slow pace of play, which could affect the overall experience.

4 of us had a Groupon for $40 for golf after 12 on Sunday. Called for a tee time close to noon on Sunday. The guy on the phone said how about 11:55. We asked if that was ok with the Groupon and he said it was close enough and would be good. We get there for golf Sunday and the counter person said we had to pay full price even if we were told it was okay on the phone for the tee time 5 minutes before noon. We were not happy of course because we would have gone with a little later tee time but apparently the staff does not honor what each other say to their customers.

Extremely beautiful course. Tee box, fairways and greens are extremely well taken care of. This is one of the first courses that has true sand bunkers, deep with white sand, no weeds and an edge around the entire bunker. It was a learning experience to get over those 😅

This course has become a go-to for me and my golf buddies. I stopped playing there 5-7 years ago as it wasn’t being cared for very well. The layout was awesome but it appeared they were letting it go. New owners have taken over and vastly improved the playing conditions of the course. Don and the other folks that run the desk / course are tremendous and very proud of the turnaround (as they should be). This is a true gem and priced extremely well given all the money they are putting into it and the fantastic practice facilities they have there. If this was in Brighton or Oakland county they co…

Beautiful day, course was in great condition. Enjoyed our round. Greens are incredible, not a flat spot on them. Just visited again, excellent condition, elevated my review to 5 star. One of the nicer public courses around.

I think the 4.6 avg this course receives is accurate. Well kept. Nice views. Interesting hybrid style course. Has large fairways and some secluded wooded holes as you would expect in a northern Michigan course, however it also sports smaller greens and lots of native brush grass in a links feel. This second element really brings some difficulty into the course. There are white stakes everywhere, so accuracy is needed to avoid penalties. Good course. 👍

I previously rated Timber Trace a 1 star review including photos to document the horrendous condition it was in after playing a round last summer but am now happily rating it 5 stars after golfing there today! Like many people in the community, I once considered Timber Trace one of the top courses in SE Michigan and was sad to see how quickly it went down hill in recent years. It got so bad I refused to ever play there again and I live on the course! However, all that changed when other community members purchased the course and vowed to bring it back to its former glory. Although it still h…

Played this morning 9/30/23 - congrats to new management in making the course condition top notch again. Very nice layout. Great value compared to the overpriced and stuffy moose ridge, majestic, and preserve’s of the area. Highly recommend once again!

Discouraged my 6 year old from playing golf! Had to sign a waiver to have my son on the course with me. Was charged $25 for my son to ride along and hit maybe 5 balls. I have played a lot of courses and not one has charged for a kid to play or sign a waiver. They stopped me on the first tee to make me pay for my child. “Didn't know he had clubs” “That will be $25” “ better keep up with the pace with kids being with you.” Had to wait for a foursome in front on every hole. Yet the kids were slowing things down? My son was intimidated to play or do anything wrong as was I after the treatment and…

Very nice course playing in great condition. Expect a little longer round with the distance between tees and some of the challenging holes. One of the best public courses in the area and glad to see the owners taking great care of it.

Course is superb shape after the new ownership took control. Our new go to course in Livingston county, will get a membership once the kids are older and I can get out during the week more.

4.5 stars now they have new owners and are keeping this in top shape. They are working on adding beautiful white sand to the bunkers, which is very nice to hit out of. The course is challenging but forgiving with ample fairways. Greens rolling fast and challenging. Happy for the turnaround. Beautiful.

Great course friendly staff just make sure you dont forget anything behind. I left my sweater behind at the rage when I realized I left it i turned around to get it didn't see it i figured someone returned it to the pro shop. After the round I asked if it was there they said no. People that attend there lack the honor system. For me if someone drops a head cover, club whatever I return it
