In summary

Bacon Park Golf Club in Savannah is appreciated for its charming setting, featuring a classic Donald Ross design with majestic live oaks and abundant wildlife. Many visitors find the staff friendly and the course layout enjoyable, offering a mix of challenging and forgiving holes. However, some golfers have noted that the greens can be inconsistent, and the condition of the cart paths and other amenities may not always meet expectations.

As snowbirds escaping the brutal cold and snow of the Northeast, we were thrilled just to see grass again—let alone play golf! Bacon Park, with its classic Donald Ross design, was a treat, in spite of the course being a little dry and the grass dormant (what can we expect? It *is* winter, after all, even in the south), we enjoyed several fun and challenging rounds. The layout has a nice variety of holes with plenty of sand and water features to keep things interesting. The course flows nicely, often under a canopy of massive live oaks dripping with Spanish moss—pure Savannah charm. We also lo…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A hidden gem in Savannah — a slice of heaven on the greens! Bacon Park Golf Course is one of the most beautiful and special places in Savannah. The setting is truly stunning — with majestic live oaks draped in Spanish moss that sway gently overhead as you make your way along the course. It’s not just a golf course — it’s a sanctuary. The sounds of birds filling the air throughout the day lift your spirits and remind you how close to nature you are. The course itself is impeccably maintained — from the pristine fairways to the sparkling greens. Every corner feels loved and cared fo…

Very bad golf experience here. I am from out of town and wanted to play some golf in the Savannah area. Decided to give bacon park a try. I paid $56 for $20 greens and constantly found myself lost for lack of any visible cart path. Seriously, the cart paths are non existent and confusing. Also for some reason you are not able to park the golf carts next to your vehicle, which makes loading and unloading a pain. I quite after the first nine and tried to get half my money back, but the pro at the shop was super defensive (the only quality of this course that is consistent with any other course i…

Cheap course. Layout is decent. Maintenance and greens are mediocre at best. Only restroom on course is near hole 5 and out of the way so it's inconvenient when the tee boxes are backed up. Also, get all your snacks/drinks at the start! It's a true out and back course with no refreshments or restrooms at the turn!!

This course is well maintained. Some of the greens were a little rough but not enough to spoil the round. Overall in good condition, challenging but forgiving. Played at the senior rate which was very reasonable. I would recommend this course if you are in the area.

Bacon Park has received many negative reviews over the last few months and it had me worried. Most of the reviews I saw were about the terrible greens. Allow me to say that they have been working very hard to restore these greens and most of them are in prestige condition! Some are still not great but way better than before and not bad at all. Great day at this golf course!

I’ve played this course a handful of times with buddies and it’s usually fine, but today is what finally made me write this review. We showed up around 4:15–4:20 to hit a quick bucket, warm up, and then play nine holes at a fast pace, which was absolutely doable with a little over an hour of daylight left(civil twilight beginning at 5:45). The staff immediately pushed back. The woman at the front desk gave me a hard time about not having enough time to play, then turned around and asked if we wanted to walk or take a cart. Uhhhh what???That made no sense. If you’re already telling us time is t…

Just finished up 18. Awful conditions. Most of the greens are not playable. Tee boxes are dirt. If you hit in the fairway you MIGHT find some grass. We thought we would give it a try after not playing there in over a year. Disappointed to say the least. Won’t be back for sure.

Bacon Park was an absolute gem for the price! I thoroughly enjoyed my round at Bacon Park today. The only aspect that fell short was the greens. However, the rest of the golf course played exceptionally well. The fairways were in excellent condition, and the cart paths (when present) were in okay shape. The tee boxes were also nicely maintained. Overall, the course and staff exceeded my expectations, considering the price. Donald Ross’s design course at such an affordable price is a must-visit for families and friends. I want to express my gratitude to the staff and everyone involved in maki…

Bacon Park Golf Course is a great place to play, and I’ve had a positive experience every time I’ve gone. The staff is always extremely nice and respectful, especially Crystal, who is always super friendly and welcoming. You can tell they truly care about the players. Some of the greens have a few minor issues, but nothing major — just small things you notice here and there. Other than that, the course is in really good shape. The layout is fun, fair, and enjoyable for all skill levels. Overall, it’s a solid course and definitely worth checking out.

I was excited to play here today but I was let down by the condition of the course. For $54 as the resident rate I was expecting more, I also understand that the several greens have been repaired and they are preparing for the city amateur. The course itself is open with a lot of scoring opportunities while the layout give you several options to attack the course. There are several areas in and around the clubhouse that needs repairs and the staff are friendly, and are knowledgeable of the course and it’s history. There were quite a few times I had to reverse he golf cart as I unknowingly ente…

I’ve played golf at Bacon Park most of my life. Have great memories of friends no longer with us. Got to say most of my experience here over the years I’ve witnessed ups and downs of the courses condition. Never once did that take away from the game. Recently I’ve seen improvements made and I have to say it’s in great shape compared to a year ago.
