In summary

Hunter Golf Club receives praise for its friendly staff, reasonable pricing, and enjoyable layout, particularly appreciated by military families and newcomers. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's condition, citing issues with greens, fairways, and tee boxes, as well as challenges with base access procedures. While some improvements have been noted, the course still requires further maintenance to meet higher expectations.

Played course 28 Feb 2024. The lady in the pro shop was very nice and informational. She made me feel welcomed. Only cost 13 bucks to walk 9. The practice facilities are about average or slightly above. As for the course, remember it is a military course so my expectations was not extremely high. The tee boxes need a lot of work and some barely have any grass. As for the fairways there are a few rough patches, holes, and dry spots with little grass. I saw no issues with the bunkers but the greens are bumpy in most areas of the greens with little weeds showing. I hope the base pours more money…

Quite an interesting experience. The good, nice staff and tasty hotdogs. That’s it. It’s a goat farm. Greens are diseased and baron. Fairways are rock hard, not watered, full of weeds and with little grass. Tee boxes are basically sand traps. They don’t rape you in price but the best hole in the course is the driving range.

On base, need security pass to gain access -so plan ahead by a few days & use online pass system to prepare access pass; priced right! Longer holes than anticipated… but forgiving on some holes to drive your spun 😵‍💫 spread pattern… but the greens are center target 🎯 only or they punish all ⛳️ transgressions! 🏌️‍♂️#militarygolfadventure

Beautiful grass. This was my first time playing golf and I had a blast. Took us almost 6 hours to do the full 18 holes but it was worth it.

After three years of playing at Hunter Golf Course, I must say that my recent experience has left me incredibly disappointed. The gentleman who approached us near the 4th tee, who I assume was a marshal or manager, displayed a level of hostility and unprofessionalism that was completely unwarranted. Instead of addressing any concerns in a respectful manner, he chose to talk down to my group and make baseless accusations apparently reported by another group on the course. He did ultimately calm down and allowed us to finish without further incident, but the encounter completely ruined the rest…

Best conditions I’ve seen on the front 9 in a long time. Still some issues with potholes on greens, especially hole 8 and water logged bunkers, but the course has looked and played for a while.

A nice place to spend an afternoon, however the course is in rough shape and the greens are a bit of a disaster. Lots of rough (if you're a hacker like me bring lots of balls!). Very reasonable price and again a nice place to spend a few hours.

Not terrible but if it has rained any at all the course is muddy

The course is in horrible shape. From the tee boxes to the fairways and the greens. I played 9 holes after 3pm yesterday and as a veteran and the shape it’s in I paid $27. Extremely disappointing.

The course was actually pretty nice it just rained, and the course was unplayable. Layout and greens were good. Just when it rains, there is no drainage, but it's Savannah and makes perfect sense. I'll be back to play on a dry day.

Great golfing experience. Top public course opportunity in Savannah. Great fairways and greens. Well maintained. The practice facility has a great range, putting green and chipping area, all well maintained to course standards. You won’t be disappointed.

Didn't get to play due to the misleading access policy and unhelpful staff. You have to fill out an electronic form to get access to the base. Once you get clearance, you need to bring a printed document and ID to the base. Headed to the course to get there about 40 minutes before our tee time. Unfortunately, didn't realize the access gate was on the other side of the base from the golf course. Had to wait almost thirty minutes at the guard station to get our guest pass. We did not get any information about how to get to the course once cleared. Once we found the route, it took another 8 minut…
