What People Say

In summary

Max Starcke Park Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, well-maintained greens, and affordability, making it a popular choice for both beginners and experienced players. The course's flat layout and accurate GPS-equipped carts are also highlighted positively. However, some visitors express concerns about the lack of certain amenities such as food services and wind screens on carts, as well as occasional issues with pace of play and course management.

A coworker and I paddled my canoe up and down the river. The launch pad is nice. It's a 4 mile round trip. We had a great time. We also went fishing. Of course we caught nothing and finish were jumping out of the water teasing us lol. The water is nice and calm. We were able to move the canoe around with ease. We'll be back and maybe catch a fish or two.

Fun course. Getting ready to close later this year for renovations.

Quiet family park nestled beside the Guadalupe River. Fishing, walking and biking trails available.

Course was great for a municipality public course. Staff was super nice. Carts have GPS. Clean facilities, locker room, no showers. 4 stars because no showers, no hot food, no cart girl. The course was in decent shape. No issues and we got what we expected for the most part. Visited July 5th 2023.

This place is in good shape for a golf course in the winter time I hope it gets better as springtime gets here. But I would recommend playing It. The only problem I have and I wish they would fix is they do not have wind screens on their golf carts. And the day we happened to be playing, it was quite windy. They are new carts, but for some reason they didn't put wind screens on them. I don't know why hopefully they can remedy that situation.

It’s hard to give Starke Park a realistic rating. They are closing October 1, 2024 for a year. In preparation, they killed all the fairway grass. The greens, however, are in decent shape. It’s a fun track and I look forward to playing it again after they finish their update.

Waited and waited for the Marshall to hurry up the people that were two groups in front of us, then when he did finally talk to them it started raining shortly thereafter and we had to quite the round. It is a decent course but we could tell it was managed poorly from the moment we tried to checkin at the clubhouse. Too bad!

Decent course. A lot more packed than I expected for a Monday. Had some Texas State kids in front of us throwing clubs and lollygagging around the course. Not sure if this is a typical crowd. Be mindful alcohol is prohibited and not even sold in the Pro Shop. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but I wouldn't pass up a round with friends if this is where they wanted to go.

Nice place. Didn't get to play due to it being busy but did get to hit some balls on the driving range. Friendly staff and it looks like a well kept course.

Great place to have a golf tournament. People there worked with us as we had a rain delay. The golf course held great especially with the amount of rain they got. We will be back. Thank you

Great Muni.... Flat but challenging in it's own way.... Greens are always in great shape. Perfect for beginners as it's not over packed but fun for more experienced players. Traps could use some new sand but for the price and available tee times it's hard to beat. Gabby at the desk is super friendly and makes you feel welcome.

Good course for the price. Carts have very accurate GPS showing spot on distances. Staff is friendly and the greens roll pretty true. Most days, I can get through a round in 3 to 3.5 hours (except Friday-sunday when they allow 5somes). Overall, a great links style course that I visit at least once a month. On second thought... it's horrible. Don't go out there (gotta keep my rounds under 3.5 hrs, and if all yall start showing up, it'll be stacked up like Austin courses)
