In summary

Quail Creek Golf Club is appreciated for its friendly staff and challenging layout, featuring small, sloping greens and narrow, tree-lined fairways. The course offers good value, especially for college students and those walking, and is conveniently located near downtown San Marcos. However, many visitors note that the course condition could be improved, with particular concerns about the greens being hard and patchy, and some areas of the course appearing dry or poorly maintained.

I am now a member here. Have played for almost two months. The course condition is getting better. The greens are really small and hilly, which are really hard to approach to (I am playing 90-100) and typically I need to chip. Big trees in the middle of fairways tend to impede me to make approach shots. Instead I do a lot of low punches. Front nine holes are 3000 yards for blue tees and have several ponds. A lot of dog right/left holes and a 200 yards drive over a valley (7th). Back nine holes are 3300 yards (blue). To me, the extra 300 yards make me some troubles because I typically drive 210…

Not a bad little course. I feel that it is overpriced for the quality. The greens were very hard and would not hold a well struck shot. Tee to green was ok. I would not play there again without a discount or coupon.

Nice course. Fairly flat course but still challenging with small sloping greens. Some water but mostly at finish on 9th and 18th. Narrow tree lined fairways on some holes.

Front nine in better shape than back. Very patchy fairways...a ton of clover. However, greens were in good shape, and very challenging with a lot of undulation.

Good place to get in a little practice but certainly not a course you would want to play regularly. Terrible greens.

The course was really nice however, the greens were more brown than green and really hard which made them super fast. It was almost like putting on pavement.

Nice people who work there. Golf course could use some water. Seemed a little dry. Easy course over all.

Closest golf course to downtown San Marcos. Could be in better shape. Walking is allowed now and the price is right! I like it.

This is a ragged course left over from a defunct country club. It has never been kept up in it's entire history. Don't waste your money or time.

When i went here this year the greens were painted green and the only reason i could see as to why there was only clumps of grass and the rest looked like sand

Good course for the greens and fairway. Not very easy to navigate but had fun anyway.

Not worth the price. Greens are in pretty good shape but the rest of the course needs work.
