In summary

The Prairies of Cahokia Golf Club is appreciated for its affordable pricing, friendly staff, and interesting course layout, with some players noting the course's charm and ongoing improvements. While many find the fairways and greens in decent condition, others have observed issues such as damaged greens, narrow fairways, and slow pace of play. Additionally, some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with the rain check policy and certain maintenance aspects, such as marshy areas and debris on the course.

People probably shouldn't come to golf on days that have 100% chance of rain if they expect a rain check after finishing most of the course 🤷‍♀️ Common sense goes a long way! The rain wasn't at all unexpected.

I would say 3.5 stars would be more accurate. The staff was very friendly and the food was good at the snack bar. The course is in decent shape. Fairways are burmuda grass and are in good shape. The greens were not the best several had bare areas where you had to move your ball several feet if you wanted to putt on all grass. The course had several dog legs which are not easy to read if you never played here. We paid about $32 for 18 and cart, which is not bad. I would play here again if they get the greens fixed.

I have a fantastic visit whenever I am at The Prairies Golf Club. The golfers here maintain the green by repairing their divots. This, sadly, is rare for the area. I enjoy the relatively easy course and the large assortment of wildlife in the small ponds and lakes around the course. I have noticed that many of the reviews for this place are from folks who were displeased. I have just started golf this summer and played every week or twice a week at various places around the metro-east and The Prairies Golf Club in Cahokia has been one of my favorite affordable courses. The course does not pla…

We got rained out after one hole on the back 9 and they wouldn’t let us get a rain check to continue. The lady at the front desk said “it’s a 4 hour course no rain check.” It took us 2 and a half hours for 9 with a 4 man. Which is pretty quick. Decent course, what kind of business does that though?

No raincheck after only finishing 9 and a bad storm rolled in. Lady was rude about it too. I will never go back.

Tough to beat the price. Staff very friendly. I only played the front 9. The course itself is very mediocre. Most of the greens have damage. Some VERY narrow fairways. Random areas in the middle of the fairways were marshy. But overall a decent little municipal course. If I lived closer I’d go more often but I doubt I’ll make the trip over from the MO side again.

Great course for the very low price. It is maintained fairly well, however more geese on several fairways than I would like to see. Beer is very cheap as well and they have a good variety. Employees are friendly. Also bring bug spray, last time I was there the bugs were BAD

What a fun course, you can tell they have put a ton of work into it and the layout is great. Dawn went above and beyond for us and deserves a raise or bonus or something because she was awesome.

I think this is a great muni course. Great value for the conditions. Fairways adequate, just patchy here and there. Greens have rolled true for most of the dozen years I've been playing here. Typically on the faster side but been a but slower the last couple of times. Friendly staff. Good burgers to fuel you for the back nine. Interesting and challenging layout. We always have a good time here.

Given the amount of rain that we've had in the past few months, the course has held up well. Greens are in great shape and yes, there is a lot of thin areas of fairways. Yes, it is a muni course but I really think more people need to play this course. Was not busy at all.

Course was very rough but it was early season. The pace of play is unbearably slow! 6 hour rounds are not acceptable and management needs to do a much better job of keeping things moving. There are much better courses around that can get you finished in 4 hours.
