The Quest at Houghton Lake

Conditions were not worth the price of greens fees. The actual greens were very nice. Fairways and traps were not up to snuff. We had to change carts three times to get a decent one.

What an absolute beauty of a day. The front nine plays like a serious tournament style course, while the back brings some of that northern-forest charm. The new owners have done a fantastic job cleaning this place up. There's still some work to do (sands a bit chunky, fringe was chewed up in spots) but the greens are tight and fast, the fairways are smooth, and the rough was consistent. I'll play this all damn day for $40/walking. Kudos to the team too. Everyone I spoke with was extremely friendly and accomodating. I played last week as part of my first visit to the area. The course was in amazing shape. This is a great course that rewards precise play and if you wander into the woods, you have no choice but to punch out. I had a great 10 min conversation with the started Fred (I think). Fred gave me all the great tips on how to get around the course. This is on my list of must play courses when I return to the area. Could not be happier with my choice to play this course.

Very well maintained course. Enough of a challenge to be interesting but not so difficult to be discouraging. Excellent and helpful staff.

Course was a lot of fun to play, challenging but still a good opportunity to score. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. This will be a stop on our yearly golf trip in seasons to come.

Had a fun time playing The Quest. Course is in great shape, and great deal for what they charge ($50) for May. Will absolutely be back!

Totally got the vibe in the pro shop of Dream and Nightmare. Never played it prior to the new ownership, but really enjoyed it and top notch service as always from this ownership group. Don't know them, every time I play pne of the 3 courses, it's just always a better experience. With the family cabin being in HL, will definitely be back!

Immaculate!! This was my first time golfing here and it won’t be the last! Great layout! Tees, fairways, and greens were awesome!! Golfer friendly! Women friendly!! Pace of play was fantastic!! The staff was amazing! Looking forward to my next round here soon!!

Course was recently purchased by the owners of dream and nightmare. They have done an amazing job. The conditions were nearly flawless, price was more than fair and people were great. This course is definite must play if you are in the area. Great filler for a golf trip if you are playing forest dunes, dream/nightmare and now here! Will definitely be back.

Very cool course to play. You can see they are making significant improvements to this course, which will be amazing! Staff were friendly, rangers were very nice and helpful. Just an overall great golf outing! I would definitely recommend hitting this course if in the Houghton Lake area!

Played 36 holes here on a Saturday for a guys golf trip. Our experience was nothing short of spectacular. The track was beautiful and in great condition, especially for the spring. But the hospitable and welcoming treatment we received from staff is what we will be talking about for years to come. We will most definitely be back!!!

One of the best-kept secrets in Northern Michigan golf. The Quest is a beautifully laid-out course that offers a great mix of challenge and playability. Every hole has a distinct character, and the layout rewards smart shot-making over just hitting it long.
