In summary

The UNC Finley Golf Club is frequently praised for its well-maintained course, appealing layout, and quality amenities, with many appreciating the recent renovations to the bunkers and greens. However, several visitors express concerns about significant price increases, which they feel have made the course less accessible to students and local golfers. Additionally, some have reported unsatisfactory customer service experiences and a lack of flexibility in accommodating guests.

Positive: facilities, greens, environment and air quality Negative: a dinosaur I visited this golf course around 1:30 PM on a Monday afternoon. My friend had made the reservation, and I was responsible for bringing the golf clubs. It was our very first time at this course, and unfortunately, the experience started off on a very unpleasant note. We had deliberately booked the latest possible tee time to avoid delaying any players behind us — there were no players scheduled after us. My friend urged us to begin hole 1 promptly, as we had planned to play 18 holes and didn’t want to keep the st…

MAJOR PRICE INCREASE this year. Twilight rates gone. The cost to golf in the afternoon has more than doubled. The condition of the course right now is not worth the money. Play Duke GC instead. Both cheaper (!) and better. The message is abundantly clear, they don't want UNC students playing the course. Only a 30% discount for students (Duke gives their students close to 50%). Extremely high rates at all times of the day. They also eliminated the one afternoon a week they had student tee times. I expect the average age of golfers to be 65+ going forward. Congrats. Also acting like a WALKING…

This was a very nice course. I'm from the North, so the rough was something to get used to. It had rained the night before; it was cart path only. That was not fun at all. It was 90° 100% humidity. For the price, I would have played Tot Hills 2 times, but it was nice to play. I'm glad I was able to play with a great friend.

UNC gotta throw more money into attracting a better greens keeper and the course. The practice amenities are great but this course is not worth $130. We were left wondering what did they when they shut down a couple of years ago.

Pros: nice course, location, facility Cons: the blatantly disrespectful pricing towards normal students and average consumers. It's clear the course's business mindset is now a money grab from everyone and anyone, to fund the UNC golf facilities. As a Tar Heel, it's honestly insulting to me that they advertise and piggyback off the brand equity of UNC, and don't even have a student discount or student plan for the practice facilities. No student is playing 18 holes, 3-4 times a week and willing to pay $10-12,000 or whatever it is now for a year. People want to drop in for an hour or two and…

Course is in amazingly good shape with all brand new bunkers and greens. Carts are really nice and the layout is still cool. Will play it often.

Finley Golf Club when looking strictly at the golf course design and quality is fun. Since renovation the conditions have been largely improved with more consistent greens. The new front nine renovations are, unfortunately, clearly forced to make way for the new golf team practice facility. Beyond the actual condition of the course itself, nearly all other aspects of the experience at Finley has continued to make a significant downturn since renovation. The range now costs 25$ for 'unlimited' golf balls, largely pricing out students and locals who used the course as a place to spend an hour o…

Course was in excellent shape following a lot of rain and the customer service levels were extremely high. If you aren’t hitting fairways, bring some balls - lost several just off the first cut in the rough. Appreciate you all having us and for creating a great experience.

This is a tough one. It’s a great golf course. I love what they did with the redesign. If you live in the area and have never played it, you should absolutely play it once to see it for yourself. I just can’t help but feeling like UNC is making it very clear to the public that this is a public course in name only. The rates—which they just jacked again—have surpassed Duke at this point (and frankly, Duke is easier to get out on and a better golf course). I believe it’s a $40 cart fee which I’ve never heard of anywhere before. In fairness, it’s a walkable course but $40 is atrocious. Also, I…

A very playable, well maintained course with challenge enough for a wide range of players. Great staff and accommodations.

Dont listen to any of these negative reviews, this place was great. Friendly pro shop, great starter and amazing course. It's short but difficult which I really enjoy. Great conditions, quick greens and we had a perfect 4 hour round.

I'd say the facility is nice and has everything you'd reasonably want from a golf course. My main and chief complaint is can you please go back to the system for the driving range where you pay money for buckets instead of an all day pass? Alot of times when I go to the range to practice I don't want to go for 4+ hours to make a full day pass worth the $25 price tag. I miss when I could get 6 tickets for $30 and go there more leisurely. My other friends feel the same way, I'm sure other people would also agree.
