I didn’t play personally but my boyfriend did and he said that it was the most beautiful course he’s ever golfed (including Pinehurst). He said that the grounds were absolutely pristine and that the staff were overwhelmingly friendly. Highly recommend.

One of the best clubs around. Great environment, people, service, and food! The golf course is spectacular and play is always a challenge. For spectacular views you’ll find nowhere else in Chapel Hill, Durham, or the surrounding Triangle, play the Mountain 9, its an experience.

The course is absolutely gorgeous, even in the dead of January. This is truly a special place.

Golf was outstanding although fairways are still coming in. Greens roll fast and take some time to get used to and difficult to read. Overall experience was very good playing as a guest of a member. Highly recommend playing if you can, all three nines have a different feel. Club house under renovation but still very nice.

Very nice venue - decorated well for the season, good food, many rooms of various sizes for rent. Note that you must be a member to reserve. I visited at night, so I didn't get to see the beautiful pond or greenways.

We were not informed greens were punched, holes on greens were extremely big. Could not even make a 2ft put. Course is beautiful I must add, but it would have been nice to be informed of airaiding. $153 green fee waisted.

We had an absolutely awful experience here. We had a big south asian wedding at Governor's Club and the staff were incredibly rude and un-accomodating. A few days before our outdoor wedding we were told that we would be unable to have it outside even if we had a tent (which we already planned for) due to the ground being soggy. This is not something we were told when we had booked the venue at all. Staff were incredibly rude on the day of our event despite us having to change everything last minute due to their inability to communicate and accommodate our requests when we had originally booked…

In terms of dining, the club offers you two unique dining experiences. You can either go the formal route and sit in the main room (no denim) or have a more casual dining experience at the bar. You can't really go wrong with either! Sports enthusiast? Then this place is for you! You have plenty of activities to keep you busy ranging from tennis to golf. If you happen to be around during the summer, the pool is open and offers you the choice to either swim casually or in the two available lap lanes.

Governors Club has been a great experience for me on a number of occasions. I was considering joining a second country club in the winter of 2017 and the staff treated me very well. If all things have played out correctly, I would have joined. In fact, I may still consider it. The course offers three (3) 9 hole sides. The Mountain 9 is more of a betting/fun 9 with several downhill tee shots and second shots. There is a beautiful view from the 9th hole overlooking all of Chapel Hill and Jordan Lake. The Foothills and Lakes 9s are much more true golf. There are several demanding shots into gre…
