In summary

Thorntree Country Club is appreciated for its well-maintained greens and attractive course layout, with some visitors noting the staff's friendliness and the availability of amenities like free range balls. However, many golfers express frustration with the slow pace of play, citing a lack of marshals to manage the flow and frequent delays. Additionally, some reviews mention inconsistent course maintenance and customer service issues, which detract from the overall experience.

First time coming here and unfortunately it was the last. From the very start, we were already waiting to start our tee time. We had a 12:40 tee time and didn’t tee off until 12:55. The pace of play never got better from there. Every single hole we were waiting 15 min or so just to tee off and by that time the group behind us had already caught up so then it felt like we were being pressured to go faster with our shots. No cart girls except for 1 tent after the front 9 which seems kind of inconvenient especially for the $75+ price. There’s no Marshall out there enforcing the pace of play. In t…

Zero stars if I could. Worst course ever. My first and only time here and not coming back. If you love finishing a round of golf in 6 plus hours this is the place for you. A typical round of golf is 4 hours. Nobody wants to spend all day on the course waiting for the people in front of you. On hole 4 when I called the front office about pace of play, his answer was ridiculous. He said “it’s because of logistics why it’s so slow”. Stupid response. The reason it is like this is because you do 5 minute tee time intervals and there is no golf Marshall enforcing pace of play. When there is no golf…

Had not played the course in a year or so but we gave it a chance once again since we had heard the city of Desoto had purchased it. Unfortunately it was disappointing from the start. Our tee was not in their system even though we had a confirmation email. They worked us in about 30 minutes late behind people who should not be playing other than maybe putt putt, if even that. The course was in below average condition. Fairways were spotty with dirt patches, tee boxes were uneven and with tons of divets, bunkers were hit or miss, some had sand, some had dirt, some had rocks and some had grass.…

The greens were in excellent condition and rolled very fast — definitely the highlight of the course. However, the tee boxes and fairways were not as well maintained as I expected. For a $75 round, I would have liked to see the overall course in better shape. With some improvements to the fairways and tee areas, it could be a great value.

6 hour 10 minutes to play a round. Called the pro shop on hole 3 after waiting 25 mins to tee off. I was told there was 1 marshall and 2 cart girls ahead of us to speed things up. At the turn, the lady at the snack tent mentioned there were 0 marshalls and 0 cart girls working today, so the guy at the pro shop lied. course was in good condition but you will spend all day out here

Played there 5-16-23 I paid $30 through Golf Now. Course is in great shape. Fairways are plush and greens are smooth although a little slow. A few spots here and there that could use some TLC. Just hit it in the fairway and it's an easy game 😎

If I could give zero stars for my experience today I would. This is a course that I frequent and I was extremely disappointed with the lack of honesty and professionalism exhibited today. Upon arriving at the course I asked the shop attendant if the course was in decent shape after a storm had come through the night before. I was assured that the course was fine so I paid the $70 for the round. As I got out on the course it was obvious the course should have been closed or put at a discounted rate. Attached are photos I took while on the course. Multiple fallen/uprooted trees completely blocki…

This course is absolutely garbage. My group tee off at 9am, the 4th tee time of the day and it took us 6 hours to complete our round. Never golfing here again and I hope that nobody gives the course again. FIND ELSEWHERE TO GOLF!!! Some holes we had a 3 group queue.

Nice track. Greens slow but in good shape. Poorly managed. We had a fivesome put on the course in front of us. Backed up the entire course and we were unable to finish. Fivesomes should not have beginning golfers. Cart battery died and we had to walk the rest of the course because clubhouse did not answer the phone.

Great greens. That’s where it ends. Tee boxes are torn up. Bunkers are like baseball fields. No sand. Essentially hard pan. Many of the fairways are really bad. See photos. Additionally there was a lady who had only one tee time but all of her friends showed up. Seven to be exact. She asked to be given a none existing test time which just happened to be right in front of us. It was almost a five hour round. Apparently they’re under new ownership. They plan on making it private again but want to take in some extra cash before doing so. I guess that’s why the greens fee has gone up. There was al…

No marshall, so we were backed up by 3 groups. Literally having to wait 20 mins between every hole. It’s a shame because the course itself is pretty nice.

Couse was ok. Bunkers are unkempt amd washed out. Greens have grass and could be better but they are just slow amd wet. Maybe with some dryer weather and some cuts it can get better. Fairways are solid with grass a few wash out spots from all the rain. **Left my rangefinder and went back to get it but it wasn't there, oh ok!**
