In summary

On the Hill Golf Course & Lounge is praised for its friendly and attentive staff, enjoyable dining experiences, and a variety of events such as bingo and festivals. Patrons appreciate the quality of the food, especially the fried chicken and fish fry nights, as well as the welcoming atmosphere. However, some visitors have reported issues with staff training, inconsistencies in service, and occasional administrative mishaps, such as lost IDs and booking misunderstandings.

I cannot say enough good things about this place after my first experience here. On this rainy night, I went for the furloughed government employee dinner that they offered (everything free with proof of ID) and was greeted at my car by Dave, who offered me a ride up to the front door in his golf cart to keep me from getting wet on the walk up. I was treated so kindly by everyone I met (Dave, Denise, Claire) and a couple patrons at the bar were friendly and suggested the egg rolls and pot stickers for next time. When I got my food order and was ready to go, Dave took me back to my car. I will…

The food is always good, the menu has a wide variety to choose from, and the staff is friendly. This is one of the only American Legions that has a golf course and is open to the public. They are also able to host fairly large meetings in their meeting room. This American Legion also has an adult gaming room. We enjoy our American Legion Post 199 very much, and recommend it for dining, golfing, having a meeting, or just enjoying a cocktail at the bar.

I really enjoyed the Blue Grass festival. There was a nice area set up for the children to play. There is a spectacular fireworks display in July. I enjoyed the company of the patrons as well as the staff. The tacos are delicious here! Special's for tacos are on Tuesday.

Visited on Monday evening bingo. Had a good time. It would have been GREAT, but I didn't win any games. Everyone was friendly and helpful. There is a wide selection of bingo games that were played. People seemed to enjoy the snack foods and beverages they purchased. I had a fun time and would go again.

Our group came for Monday night Bingo. We had a fun evening. I understand that the workers are all volunteers. As a recent newcomer, I think it would help to put up a sign that says no food orders taken during game play. Also 3 of us ordered hotdogs. Half of the buns were rock hard. Tip - Don't keep them on top of the heating element and they won't turn hard.

I booked a tee time for 10:30. When I arrived I asked to play 18 holes. The bartender told me I could not because they were booked throughout the day and i did not make two tee times. When I finished my 9 hole round. I noticed the course was practically empty. I made another attempt to play more. I was once again told I could not because it was "against the rules". I also found this dead oppusom laying in the 8th hole. WILL NOT RETURN

Marshall accused us of something we didn't do and treated us as liars. I don't feel right mentioning his name, but it truly felt disrespectful, especially considering my father is 72. Maybe he was having a bad day? I'm not sure. But it really made us uncomfortable. The course, in general, is pretty good for the price.

Long time Edwardsville resident here. I had been there for a wedding several years ago and stopped in over the years here and there and it was always great. Fun and professional staff and people always having fun! I had heard it has gone downhill lately but wanted to check it out for myself. The rumors were true...the place seems like a complete mess now. The staff is undertrained, if they are trained at all....went up to check it out after dinner one Saturday night and had fish fry another time and our experiences were sooooo bad both times. Food was just ok. Drinks were not consistently pric…

Nice place to hang out. Enjoy the Xtreme bingo and also regular bingo. All they need is a dart board to make it even better. Food is usually bar food and ok but sometimes they have different meals that are really good. I keep going back!

First time playing golf there and had fun once we figured out the direction of the course. After nine holes went to the grill and had lunch, very good. Two thumbs up to the staff also.
