2025 edit - I've played in the past and decided to come play to see if anything changed. Other than some repairs to the greens, not much has changed and still gets its 5 stars from me. Tee boxes 5/5 - These are the best kept tee boxes you will find in the area. Outside a private course and even including a couple I've played, these are top notch. Fairways 5/5 - Again, I thought that River G&CC had great fairways, these are even better. They have the plushness that was missing and are more full as a result. (Didn't help I couldn't hit off them despite that) Greens 3/5 - There have been effor…

Booked a tee time at 1:30 on 3/1/26. It was a very nice weather day for golf, course was packed which was to be expected for how nice the weather was. What was not expected and completely unacceptable was even though my tee time was 1:30, I was waiting until about 1:50 for a cart to become available. Another group came up that had a tee time at 1:40, which was AFTER my reservation. They had one cart and were waiting on a second cart for their other two players. The pro shop knew us at the 1:30 tee time were waiting out front for a cart and someone the 1:40 group got the next available cart and…

Challenging course & very friendly staff. The course was in great shape. Four of us drove in from Sanford to play today and we all loved it. Hope to come back again soon.

This course is my home away from home while traveling for work. Mr. McDonald, the head pro here, has always treated me well and been an example of class around the place. The course is perfectly laid out to walk or ride through beautiful rolling hills in open layouts, as well as tree lined fairways demanding your best shots from tee to green. I play here multiple times a week and look no further than Johnston County Country Club for my golf course of choice in the area! Don't go left on 2!

The course looked remarkable. I hadn't been here in years. The course was well maintained. The greenway and fairways were very green. The course Manager should be quite proud of this course.

Poor course management. As a group of two that was there on time we got moved to hole 10 due to a bunch of members teeing off around our tee time. Had to play the back 9 again to complete an entire round as when we made it back to 1 we had to wait for a group of 5 and two groups of 4. It gets better though, only played 17 due to other members stepping on teeboxes in front of us as we got back to hole 10 so we moved to 11. On hole 12 same group of members who thought it was okay to just step onto teeboxes in front of us decided to come up and make some pretty misogynistic comments because my…

Course is in pretty decent shape. I like the older school feel of the clubhouse. I was surprised at how good the grill was. Pretty cool to play somewhere the PGA has been.

Where do I start? All power went out in the first hour of our reception. . The booking lady ran in a few mins later and said someone called her cell and said the power was out in the entire neighborhood BUT her cell was actually beside us where she left it so…. That made absolutely no sense. Also while we were there decorating that morning there were random women constantly in our way measuring the floors and making comments like “ we know you gals won’t mind”. We actually did mind because we paid our money for the building and they were invading our space, getting in the way and looking at u…

It is a very nice place but while there the lights went out in the middle of the reception. The area for the food setup is to crowded and too close to the entrance to the kitchen. The door was hitting the servers everytime it opened. So I think the setup could be better or relocated.

Overall a decent experience. Played here for a tournament and while it was slow going the course was in good shape. Very limited parking at the clubhouse.

Paid $55 at 3pm on a Sunday. Called and made a tee time, found out when I got on the first green that they were all punched and aerated. Oh yeah and a “No Cash policy” per the new owner. Digital Payment only. Good thing I showed up with a credit card, but I wish I didn’t! $30 golf at best. Won’t be back!

Played a week ago. 60+ dollars to play. Basically no parking lot (instantly didn’t expect much). All greens looked like hard mold… they were awful. Some hole had major tractor tire groves on them. $30 golf at best. They need to put a ton of work into this play. I won’t be back.
